Hi Guys,

I bought a 99 V spec R34 - in the process of modding. I bought a Sunline Racing 76mm Single throttle body - and brought in the Greddy intake plenum - but I see the plenum is for multiple throttle bodies only. Who makes an intake plenum for my car that bolts on with a single throttle body setup ?

On a side note, thanks to Dan for sending those LED lights all the way to South Africa for my car. I will post pics once my car is complete.

thanks

Darren

why would you change from the factory setup?

most Aussie places have single options, however the 6 ITB setup suits 99% of people.

what's the application?

running a Garret 6262 with .81 AR single setup. I'm concerned about getting enough flow to #6, so want an enlarged plenum and throttle body design. Also going to be the first one running a Haltech unit like this in the country, so not sure what to expect really.

I can give you full spec list of what's sitting on my floor if you like, and you guys can critique it.

no, it will be more track oriented. I intend squeezing out 1200hp on the build eventually, and don't feel like purchasing new parts every time I go up a level. Did that too often with the Scooby and Evo, and end up paying tons in school fees instead of doing it correctly the first time round. You think the stock plenum will suffice for 600hp for now ? And is the haltech 2000 system better off single throttle configuration, or 6 throttle, or doesn't it matter ?

so its a drag car predominately?

get a hypertune plenum and hyper tune single throttle body.

f**k off the haltech and run a wolf v500 or a motech system

1200 hp for a track car is ridiculous lol thats serious drag territory and i hope u have really deep pokets lol

standard plenum and cooler will see around 350kw or so, so no not 600hp

600HP on the factory one for now, certain not an issue and plenty of people around that quite comfortably.

ECU, not 100% sure but given your location the issue of tuner and stuff would suggest to go with whatever is recommended for best results :)

1200HP is just a tad ambitious though for a circuit car...

plenty more important thing to attend too than outright power that will keep you spending serious money he he :)

oh come on, are you really serious?

you have no idea what you are talking about mate. lately all your posts are just plain rubbish.

there are PLENTY of GTR's on this very forum making 380-400rwkw, factory cooler, factory plenum.

the ones here in Vic, setting some stupidly fast circuit times to back it all up.

I know heheh, I'm a power whore. Had a 500hp Evo on stock internals - pockets not a problem - my lack of brain power is lol. Just interested in toying around with the ecu. Impressed with Vipec, just not sure of its capabilities with Skyline. BBK and suspension parts have all landed already. Manley turbo tuff rods and CP pistons here - and then pretty much complete tomei internals. Will run dual external pump setup later on. Custom built oil coolers, radiators, oil coolers already done. I want to track the car once it's around the 600 mark, and then ultimately set up another block for 1200, based on what I'm learning with the current block. Custom built exhaust manifold done, and all gaskets, seals and belts are ready for replacement. ATI damper already here. I'll setup the car info on the other forum, and you guys can agree or disagree with the build thats starting on Monday. Please feel free to rip me apart - we don't have many skylines here to learn from, so most of what we do here is through trial and error and internet surfing.

Nismoid,

Just out of curiosity, wouldn't a major contributing factor in my case be the fact that I'm so high above sea level ? (based in Johannesburg). Would I still be able to do all that with the factory setup ?

LOL WAT?/!

Darren -

How high Is JJohannesburg?

Here In canberra we are fairly high and have cars making 2000hp in Dyno comps.

Thats the best part about turbos...just add another couple of PSI and the altitude problem goes away lol

ignore all this.... for starters only an insane person would swap out a haltech for a wolf.... in fact i would rather gargle glass.

I knew you would poke your head up when Wolf came up...Do you search that word when you log on LOL :D

zebra - Johannesburg just under 1800m above sea level. Really slaughters our NA cars up here.

thanks for other info so far guys - I have source a nice plenum from RIPS complete with a 90mm TB. And I've ordered a new vented coil pack cover from Joe at Powerhouse as soon as they finish with it.

is the HKS twin magnifier worth the spend ?

Wow that is high!

You will be happy with the RIPS plenum, they make good gear.

  • 4 months later...

Hi Guys - just a quick update....car was finally licenced in December last year.......even though all my paperwork was correct - it still took the government 8 months to licence the damn thing. Customs has been clamping down heavily on imports over here, and confiscating vehicles to the value of millions every month at the moment. Anyway, here are a couple of pics - block is built - just a couple more custom piping issues and then the run in and tune - going for 50/50 mixture with eth.

This block determines the big build - just trying to work out many headaches, and since we don't have many skylines over here, everything is a steep learning curve. For now this setup will only run a 6262 .

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
