Ok I read some where ages ago that 2jzgte pistons and conrods would fit in a rb30 bottem end and when running a rb25 head it would bump the compresion back upto 9:1 dose anyone know if this is right or has done it

the info I read ages ago that I cant find again you eather use standard 2jz bearings or off the shelf over sized ones

Simple more compression and a bit stronger bottem end for half the price if you can get a good set of standard ones

yeah well Im only after 310-320rwkw but I think that just gona be a bit to far for a standard na internals and not enough power to justify spending $2500 or so on internals so Thought I may aswell ask the question to see if it is easy or its to much hassle for the money saved

it'll cost you more to get 2jz bits in, than it will to just buy a set of pistons and rod bolts mate.

i mean that is if its even possible.

given what complete 2jz motors sell for, i wouldn't think a bottom end would be all that cheap also?

Was more thinking ring gas motor sports or somthing and see if they had a good set they had pulled out of a motor they had rebuilt.

While you keep saying it would be cheaper and less hassale to forge build it. I was thinkig the same but unless I asked I would never no what was involved

I had no intentions of doing it unless I could find people who had done it and wasnt much involved and could get the 2jz bits for a good price. Im not stupid that I would just go waste money and try in with out info to back it up

So all you are doing is backing up what I suspected so theres no piont posting unless you have tryed or know of some one who has that has succeed or failed

im not to sure about that....

a 25/30 it self if you use a standard bottem end should cost you no more than $1500-$2000 to put put together then would need the same in regards to bolt ons and ecu wise.

spose, i just usually build somethign to last, and i would never use a standard bottom end. bearings ect are a few hundred, machining, balancing, crank collar, all the other extra's. hell i even clearanced my own bearings and all. 25gearbox to hold it up, theres another 2grand.

but if we are talking about a "budget" build, im still convinced of buying a 2jz halfcut with a box and with left over money throw it at some add-ons.

a 2jz halfcut with a 6 speed is over 5k isn't it?

Well to buy a V160 with a clutch etc is around 5-6k depending on what else comes with it....So I would say a Manual 2JZGTE halfcut would be bloody expensive

The cheapest way would be a 1JZ manual half cut ($3500) with a 2JZ NA bottom end ($1000).

Yet of coarse you run into the barrier of, who's gonna do your work and at what cost?

My 2c
