I'm about to finish my rebuild and here is the setup I will now use:

r32 block.

1,1mm mhg

pistons JE 87mm

eagle h beam

ACL RACE (calico coated) bearings

cranckshaft full polished and balanced ,with longer oil pump drive collar

n1 oil pump

OS GIKEN TB2 twin plates clutch and flywheel

stock ECU mapped by myself

full stock head

n1 water pump

Turbo IHI RHC7 with T04R turbine housing

6 runners manifold

Z32 AFMX2

800cc injectors

greddy timing belt

adjustable pulleys

twin 255lph pumps

Basically, it's a fully forged block (I'm planning for 500/600bhp) and stock head (aiming for perfect idle, perfect engine start, low consumption when cruising and good driveability when off boost).

So my question is, what max RPM can I run with this setup?

I suppose stock valvetrain will be the limiting factor but dont know when the limit will happend.

Thanks

GTR head?

8000rpm should be fine, everyone else sits there no problem :)

However you've made no mention of giving the head any attention/freshen up. This could be a problem.

So you might have issues, you might not. 15+yr old head - It's just a case of suck it and see really mate.

You also make no mention of ARP rod bolts (or similar), something i would be thinking about RPM wise would be stock rod bolts (if you've not used upgraded ones).

+1 for making sure the cyl head is freshened up properly, springs are checked for fatigue, valve guides arent too worn and valves are seating correctly and valves are shimmed to correct clearances

hmm pretty sure those eagle rods come with arp 2000 rod bolts

my unopened rb26 sees 7500rpm+ everyday, my rev limit is at 8000rpm, if i do hit it its for a split second anyways, shes still running flawlessly :)

i dont see why you cant run more but theres no point in revving it any higher than 8000rpm if ur power and torque is dropping off before this, just dont bash limiter ;)

Running Eagle rods Ash, come standard with ARP2000's

Stock head except springs, built motor, 9500rpm no problems.

Only ever used it to about 8500rpm though, no point in the extra loading on rotating assembly when it's already spinning all the wheels...

Oops, that was a stock head that had been reco'd

Used to sound awesome getting it's neck ringed

Looks like I will shift at 8000RPM (if there is still power at that rev) and set the limiter at 8200RPM

Thanks everybody

From what I gather your ports and valves are also the stock size/design? Just wondering @ 455kw is all.

To OP, +1 for springs. This would be the weak spot in the head for a few extra rpm.

Yes, stock ports and stock valves. 455kw would be OK for me. Not sure the turbo can build more anyway.
