looking for solutions here. the hicas light has been pulled on my car for some reason. what USUALLY goes wrong with this system?

looking at what I have it derives the speed off the wheel sensors and speedo. correct?

sppedo cable appears intact.

before someone says LOCK BAR - no I do not want one. car came with rear steer and I would like to understand it and get it working.

Heya Chris!

With worn shocks and/or less than perfect wheel alignment a car with hicas will be a pile of poo to drive. I think at least some of the problems people have is a result of their suspension not being set up right so they get a lock bar to "solve" the problem. (oh there I said it... cue the flame war!).

My car certainly went through a phase where it felt quite unpredictable to drive, when I took off it felt like it "crabbed" down the road and was twitchy and nervous at the back. But now with fresh shocks, tyres and a wheel alignment it feels solidly planted again and I still have the system everybody loves to hate.

what did they pm you with? i'd like to know too :)

see post 4. thats pretty much what was given to me.

geoff,

part of the reason I want to fix it. the car is off road for a full rebuild (see sig) and I'm going over it with a keen eye looking for faults.

suspension is TEIN and it has staggered sized tyres for some reason. do not know hte full history of this car either. fellow I bought it from didnt know that much about it either. (he bought it from cairns and bought it as a track pig - see build thread for full story.)

do you happen to know the camber/castor numbers by chance ( I'm aware you have a 33.) I have a GTR service manual so that will give me the diagrams and codes. (try finding GTS4 info - damn near impossible!)
