Insurance for third party injury is your greenslip in NSW and it's mandatory or you cant renew the rego. Greenslip usually costs me about 500 and rego i believe is in the mid 200s, i just see it as a 700 odd dollar package as im sure most people do.

On the original topic: IMO third party is a must have at minimum but comprehensive really pays off if someone else wrecks your car and has no insurance for whatever reason, or does a runner. Let your insurance chase up the at fault party and deal with repayments of $15 per pay packet while you get a new car.

I agree completely agree about third party being a must. But rego is more expensive by the weight of your car, so 500 or more for Third Party plus $437 for what amounts to a standard Commodores weight it quickly becomes a $1k exercise, so basically the NSW public is getting reamed by the state government and the insurance companys.

And its even more if you want to claim the car off tax for business use.

Has anyone tried making a claim with JustCar?

How did it go? :D

My excess was $1450 so I decided I'd just pay the $1200 repair job.

If making a claim is anything like getting insurance, expect a 40minute conversation with the operator about your car, his car, and all the mods you've done, doing and plan to do. <3ed JustCars customer support.

Paid for my 34 my self, worked my ass off for a year for it, and also paying about $1800 for full comp insurance. Bumped up the excess to nearly $3k though. My car is valued at $16.5k and wen you actually come down to work it out i do get screwed if anything were to happen to the car (touch wood) kinda shit isnt it if you work it out. however my parents pretty much demanded that i get full comp, no 3rd party so i guess i had no choice.

Im with just car btw and im paying monthly so its not too bad.

How did it go? :P

2 times ive done it with the 33

both times no issues - just ring and they go through all the stuff - all basic questions

second time i even called them up 2 days after the smash as wanted to see how much it would be first and because it was already at the shop just car just used them as they were my prefered and were a just car repairer

Payed Half and Half with Parents for my first car... an R31 haha. Still $1250 out of my pocket.

Only doing Third Party Fire and Theft, I pay for that.

Full blown $1000+ car insurance I cannot justify getting on an R31 thats worth less then what Ide pay a year in insurance.

I saved up $12 000 from working with my dad for 2 years, to get my r33 :) Never wanted to take a loan out on my first car, just all money i saved up. Then got full comp insurance with shannons under my dads name with me as a nominated driver and that costs about $1000 a year. Always been a good saver so i don't stuggle keeping up with rego, insurance, petrol, servicing etc etc

Started working full time after I finished year 12, not hard to save up when you live at home. $4500 for the car, and insurance with shannons under an "89 nissan skyline sedan", apparently there were no r32 4 doors in 89, so I fall under R31, insurance is considerably cheaper haha.

how old are you?

i thought shannons only insures over 25's

Myth

I spoke to them at a car show i was entered at and that had a stall there.

They took my details, texted me a quote and sent one in mail.

I'm 17

when i called them she wouldn't even consider me as i have no track or off road experience, and that's one of the main factors when under the age of 25, but i recall her saying that the age is increased now,

i use just car, about $1750 a year. full comp

Shannons can use discretion - it's up to the person you speak to, i have had a turbo insured with them since i was 21. There's things that help like track experience, history of powerful cars, driving record, knowing your mods and having the right sort of mods (20" chromies, hot pink paint and white leather interior will pretty much equal rejection for anyone), etc..

    • I remember the days when E85 was priced in according to the $ per km outcome. Sure E85 was about 35% cheaper, but you also lost about 35% range... now it's fked..
    • They do. The pale yellow translucent ones from Japan were .... I dunno. Useless? Whiteline and SuperPro are probably fairly similar. There's bound to be a range of different hardnesses amongst the dozens of options on the market. The simple fact is that the pineapples don't get up inside the bush at all. They just sort of exist in the space between the washer/bracket and the subframe's bush outer tube, and...exert a bit of force between them? Or something like that. I'm sure that with enough provocation, they will simply allow one to more wrt the other.
    • I'm not sure they came in different hardnesses? Going from memory only - I had set them up in the balanced setup. I also have poly bushes, so I have both poly bushes and pineapples. This is what my memory tells me at least. I'll have to take a look under there to be sure. The tramp was so bad that I managed to eject/kill a diff bushing, so those I know are stock. The tramp is bad enough that you are 200% sure you are doing severe damage to the car. It's not just chirping or vibration, it feels like you're hitting a speed hump/kerb 10 times a second. The issue has persisted between subframes! (I went from Hicas to non hicas subframe and replaced every bush a few years ago now) so I'm entirely lost. Every arm is factory.
    • Can recommend the Frenchys kit, been using it 2 years now with no issue, very happy with it.  Only thing for me was upgrading the thermo fan but I am super fussy on cooling.   Also interested in electric AC, partly for boot mount to have a clean bay and partly would love the idea of cooling off the car before i get in. The battery setup to do that might be tricky / expensive though.  Found this an interesting watch.
    • I put Whiteline pineapples in my old 33, they came in a 6 pack of them, got rid of the axle tramp altogether, cheap, quick and easy install,  they were pretty solid units though...???high durometer???? and NVH was increased a fair bit How hard are the ones you installed?
