PeterSOJ
I'm 18, yeah it's up to their discretion. I did work experience at shannons actually, listened in on the phone calls and whatnot. And they pretty much reject anyone that doesn't at least have some general knowledge about cars. Which is why they call it insurance for "motoring enthusiasts". It was a laugh listening to the calls lol, "So why would you consider yourself a motoring enthusiast?" "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." "Here's the number for just cars -__-" lol. Tempted to ring Shannons to see if they give me insurance. Maybe next year. "So why would you consider yourself a motoring enthusiast?" "So why did you take the job you're in if you have such an ugly voice?" Say to anyone, wait for reaction. Best part is, they generally have to remain polite xD Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/340874-all-you-young-p-plater-skyline-owners/page/4/#findComment-5531585 Share on other sites
curlyjimbo
I payed for my Skyline, and half half with Insurance. Now I've sold the skyline, because it was just too easy to speed in. Bought myself a Hilux with a 5" Lift, and I can truly say it's slower than your grandmothers electric wheelchair. But, I won't lose my license. Already saving for a GT-R Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/340874-all-you-young-p-plater-skyline-owners/page/4/#findComment-5531810 Share on other sites

At best you'll end up with a policy that's been jacked up a bit. You're not the one in a position of power in this one, their customer base > your potential insurers. You should also use that question next time you speak to cops Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/340874-all-you-young-p-plater-skyline-owners/page/4/#findComment-5532040 Share on other sites
Rolls
I'm 23 and my car is worth at least $15k and I still only have third party, I figure if I write it off I'm f**ked either way, I've saved almost $15k in insurance fees over those years from only having 3rd party so I am considering getting it now, but until now it just hasn't been worth it. Whatever you do make sure you have third party though, hit a new BMW and you'll be declaring bankruptcy and putting off buying a house until you are 35. TurboDoseBro
I will be the few that come out of the closet and say that my dad paid for both my car, my insurance, and registration. I pay for everything else. Despite the negative comments that will probably follow, I don't really mind this (and am thankful for it) because the fact is that I wouldn't mind doing the same for my kids when they grow up. We were all raised differently. That being said I do plan to start paying for my insurance and registration next year as I have got a job now. mystery_kid
if you own a non-gtr r32 or r33 your car is pretty much only worth 10k as far as insurance companies go so it's just not worth paying over 1/10 the value of the vehicle each year in full comprehensive insurance if you're early - mid 20's what really shits me is there is still a heap of ignorant cunt insuranace companies that still don't insure imports or if they don't they won't insure any modifications Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/340874-all-you-young-p-plater-skyline-owners/page/4/#findComment-5536789 Share on other sites

We were all raised differently. That being said I do plan to start paying for my insurance and registration next year as I have got a job now. Nothing wrong with that. My mum paid for my first car, I really appreciated it because I was in school, no job, and couldn't afford a car. No I pay for everything but my insurance. if you own a non-gtr r32 or r33 your car is pretty much only worth 10k as far as insurance companies go so it's just not worth paying over 1/10 the value of the vehicle each year in full comprehensive insurance if you're early - mid 20'swhat really shits me is there is still a heap of ignorant cunt insuranace companies that still don't insure imports or if they don't they won't insure any modifications +1 to only being worth 10k. I called Youi because I heard they were a pretty reasonable insurance company. They wouldn't insure my GTS25 R33.. so I was like eh f**k ya'll and went to JustCar. It's only third party, like geez I had more chance crashing in my Excel than my Skyline. TurboDoseBro
Nah i'm gonna go with full comprehensive. Just cars lets you have any amount of legal mods that doesn't bump up your premium or excess. Quoted about 2 days ago. Not worth risking the car being stolen or crashed without knowing.
