This is my mates one with the same mods.

Interesting points yours makes more power down low and my mates one only starts to get in front from 130km/h onwards. Your dyno seems to stop early, do you have different diff gears?

Could it be your cam gears have been adjusted for more low down power instead of up top?

For all i know the diff gears are standard...

you could be right about the cam gears being adjusted for more low down

I am getting the car on a different dyno tomorrow should be interesting

Put the car on the dyno today result was 194, will be getting a retune by another workshop next week.

Not happy with 'recommendations' from first tuner to do a way with the stock airbox as it's cause of alot of restriction.

Ohwell I guess this is how you learn where to go...

Heh - i'm running 305kw with the stock 32 air box, so yeah that tuner is a muppet. (though i did take the plastic snorkel that sits on the outside of the engine bay near the headlight off).

Can you please PM me the tuner's name?

Also, if you don't want to iterate through tuners to find someone good, just go straight to CRD or Unigroup :D Or come to the Unigroup tuning day and learn to do it yourself. You might even be able to have your car used for demo so it gets a tune at the same time!

Better that than 300kw and pinging its head off like one so called reputable workshop in Sydney did to me...never ever forgive them for that. I saw knock readings up to 190 and had to drive very conservatively until I got a new tune from a person that actually knew what they were doing and weren't in it just for the $$$$!!

I would have taken it back, but why??? Wasn't letting a load of muppets play grenades with my skyline again.........once bitten twice shy!!!

I think you will see a better result from another tuner, or at least a valid reason why the power figure is low - thus giving you some direction.

I was running 245rwkw with my old std motor, mods were power fc with std afm, adjustable cam gears and a 3" exhaust with a guttered cat, was using 14 psi of boost, also still using the std air box.

Although now with a new forged engine, not to much has changed except turbos and 20 psi of boost, now running 340rwkw, still using the std airbox.

Your power levels seem a little bit low to me, it would be interesting to hear the results and opinions when you take it to a new tune/workshop.

Good Luck!

You have PM

Thought about CRD but the workshop i am going to have really helped me out and made time for me to check it all out.

Yea i wasnt going to go back to him again, just for the reason that it could get worse.

When i went today they also still had my previous power run when i first bought the car on file, they were shocked and straight away saw the problem and reassured me that it will get fixed

Do you still have the compliance cat in the car? if so then thats the answer of why you are 30 killerwasps shy of most others

I have a 100cell highflow metal cat

Thank you for the support im still new to all this but hey its all about learning right!!!

And a big thanks to everyone on here really appreciate it and will update you when it gets sorted :)

Nick

holy crap 190? didnt know u could get a reading that high LOL most ive had is in the 80's. 100+ must be the ping that u can actually hear as a rattle??

Not to hijack thread, I only did one agressive accel in 3rd and one hill in 5th. After that I learnt that if you didn't load the motor up it was fine. I drove it like a deisel truck until I organised another tune. If they had ever tested their tune on the road they would have seen what they did with no real effort. And they had the car there for a fortnight [i had to drop it off and leave, I work away a fair bit].

A friend on here told me of his Nistune tuning not long ago. The tuners had apparently done WOT tune and nothing else. The rest of the map was pretty much standard. I lol'd at the lack of effort from this tuner.

what was the problem that they identified?! some form of restriction?

they saw straight away that the rune was crap!!

There is no restriction, and seeing that it is running 2psi more then when i first bought it (due to exhaust) just shows he did a half assed job

happens a lot more often than you think
