Hi Guys,

Has anybody else had problems with their short shifters?

Mine seems to have broken... I have never shifted hard with it at all and the top part (where the gear knob screws on) has come away from the bottom part (which drops down into the gearbox) - it still works, theres a rod from the bottom half which slides up the inside of the top half which allows it to still function, but i am not happy about it breaking.. its only about 6 months old.

It wasn't in a box tho when i got it, so perhaps its not a Genuine C's?

had mine well over 6 months, and all is good touch wood. Mine came in a box new.

Does it have any C's markings on it at all? mine came in a plastic bag with just a C's Guarentee card and the bits needed to fit it.

looks original enough for me, bought one before but didn't put it on decided to sell it again. it looks like it uses some glue between the two parts. can't u just glue them back with some kind of glue that will work with metal parts?

Agree with RS73....looks to have been bonded in place and glue's only partly taken. Shouldn't happen on a new part. Simple job to repair yourself, just remove as much of the old glue as possible from both parts (hard to do in a hole, of course), then roughen up the surfaces with emery/sandpaper before re-glueing. I'd try something like 24hour araldite (NOT the 5min stuff, which is crap).

Of course, if you think you've got a chance at a guarantee/warranty claim, do that first....

C's is now out of business, so no Warranty claim. :)

The fiancee is out shopping tonight, I have her picking me up some silicon based adhesive as I have drag combat on saturday (thank god i decided not to run!!)

Thanks guys,

Christian

you own and drive a gtr so use it in the right enviroment.

whoa, i wish you were in Sydney to see the 'PranK GTR Driving Style'. :P:)

the general rules are; because you love your car, spend as long as possible in it, so no speeding, in fact - go UNDER the speed limit. And also because you love your car and own a GTR, dont even THINK of dong anything that would jeopardise your license status and/or premium raise.

You have nothing to worry about with me.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

btw i've got a mines short shift on mine and it jammed halfway through the gate into third at sandown last sat. Maybe nissan OE is the go?

Well, since mine broke today, I called a few mates at some workshops and they were almost all of the opinion that the nissan stocker is much better for the g/box and to shift with (I have my stocker in the garage).
