What turbo is running on the motor? What is the rest of the setup?

At the moment stock. But as soon as i can get this all planned out, it will be mated to a GT3582R and a custom intercooler with a Greddy core, managed by a haltech platinum sport 2000. I am also in the middle of selecting the cams.

you started the thread saying front facing plenum was better for reponse and now we hear your putting a 3582 on it anyways, not exactly a responsive turbo selection...

the hypertune plenum isnt that much more than a greddy or plasmaman item, so how could that be more than your willing to spend if your still after a quality item...?

custom intercooler, not cheap

haltech platinum sport ecu, not cheap and easily cheaper options that can do the job

yet hypertune plenum is more than your looking to spend, I dont get it, surely a budget constraint didnt play a part in your selections so far?

Are you doing the installs yourself, otherwise again, not cheap, add on another $2K there at least... and not a mention of exhaust yet...

Yep. Have had one on mine for about 3-4 years, great quality bit of gear, what you want to know?

For the OP the way I see it you only really have a handful of choices depending on what you want:

Greddy manifold

Plazmaman plenum (However this doesn't sound like what you want since you want a full replacement manifold)

Custom Hypertune manifold made to fit a RB25

Custom RIPS plenum

Or something completely custom by a fabricator to your specs

Those are your main non "Ebay spec" options. The first two are the cheapest, bolt straight on and have been trialled and tested for years.

The next two will most likely be the best quality but the top dollar stuff. Whether your setup will benefit from them over the first two choices is probably debatable.

The last option could be the best, could be the worst, could be the cheapest and also could be the most expensive. Obviously way to many factors.

For your setup, while the intake manifold will play a good role, I don't think it is the vital key to the setup and any of the choices you make from the first four will work fine.

My 2C.

Yes hypertune have awesome inlet manifolds the R&D put into them is unbelievable. they can custom make one with no problems there, but the cost would be most likely be more then i am looking to spend, plus they like to have the car to do it. It is a shame really.

i bought one 2 weeks ago and it was 2100. the price has come down heaps in the last few months. when i first started looking at the beginning of the year they were around 2550.

im pretty sure they dont make one for the rb25 as i enquired last year when i started my 25/30 and crd said they dont make them at all.

far enough all fairly reasonable. Best response i have had so far. i am trying to steer clear of the plasmaman option as it will most likely cause the plenum to foul on the bonnet.

they can make them but they prefer to have the car so that they can makes sure for sure that it will bolt straight up, they are fully custom units. Still around the same price from last i checked then

for the amount of money some of you guys are talking for a manifold, I can make one with custom runners, 80mm billet throttle body and billet rail and all polished....oh and did I mention able to flow more than any of them!!!! similar to the pic below. that is for an rb30, but the concept is the same.

and yes it will accept the IACV

How much you charge for one of these to? to suit RB25 with the billet fuel rail and throttle

Cheers mate, they look good

$1200 for the plenum

$430 for the 80mm billet throttle body with tps and plug

$230 for the fuel rail

+ delivery which is usually around $50

With a total of $1910 you are looking at a complete intake side for any rb series engine....compare that in price and flow/power potential, it is very hard to beat

how much hp can ur manifolds flow efficiently. hypertune (102mm version) flows 1400hp+.

ive asked before but u didnt give me a power figure.

cheers

That's a generic question considering they are all different and it can depend on what the customers wants from their engine.

Strange that I haven't answered it in the past because I usually do.

If you are talking about the rb26, it flows enough to support well in excess of 1500hp and that's with an 80mm throttle body. I usually don't recommend anything larger than 80mm. There are somethings to be taken from the different size throttle bodies used but not something I will do in a public forum.

The single cam rb30 plenum pictured can flow in excess of 1200hp and again with an 80mm throttle body.

The best thing about the it how well they flow between cylinders and proven on some recent dyno testing (using individual egt's to measure results) to support the flow tests.

I take pride in making sure all cylinders flow as even as possible and combining that with maximum flow.

Let's just say that the bellmouth size, design, plenum volume and throttle body size should all be matched - edit: when there is little or no compromise for performance

94mm is more than enough for anything you throw at it. Just as an example, there are some guys in the US making over 2000hp and using a single 100mm, is this the most effecient setup? it could be argued either way....and if there are any RB pumping out those kind of numbers, I would love to have a look at the intake manifold to see what thought has gone into it and compare it to what I have seen.

A lot of the time people just go for the look of the 80mm throttle body....but having said that, I have seen very very good results from 80mm throttle bodies on your little ca18/sr20 all combined with a good plenum design.

IMO in order to gain a benefit out of these short runner intake manifolds you will need to spin more rpm.

Generalising.....if you are going to drive it in the stock rpm band then stick to the stock manifold for the best overall power/torque curve.

I agree with this guy. Long runners for stock rev limit.

If you want less intercooler piping the Plazmaman is the go.

    • Hi all   what short shifter do you use on your skykine r34?   my synchronous does have a problem and i was getting huge delay and grinding sound between 2nd and 3rd, did put shockproof red heavy stuff and it is great now/ no issues   would in your view short shifter screw this up?   people seems to suggest/ use cube short shifter and there is standard and premium. Seen review of premium as much better and less play. Thoughts?
    • Yeah, there's a bit of a density and friability difference between pebbles and any of those other things. Silicone will definitely float in oil and so will be mobile enough to move around. Although, again, if it is upstream of the filter it really shouldn't go any further. I would only ever worry about silicone when it is in places downstream of the filter. Upstream of the pickup is a whole 'nother matter. We've all seen what that does. I have seen the most abominable crap settled out in industrial gearboxes, trunnion lube systems and the like, without any sign that any of it has touched anything in the machine. Just chilling in the bottom, waiting for the inevitable operator error that causes the whole machine to need to be dismantled for repairs.
    • I have seen enough fire and brimstone from TSBs about roloc disks causing spun bearings that foreign object contamination is top of mind for me. For sufficiently large particles you might be right but usually it’s a distribution of debris and some of the larger particles can also break down and shed bits. If local shops report RTV contamination in a turbo is enough to wreck them I’m taking zero chances if I can help it.
