INASNT, The stock manifold is far from being anything special but it will do what I want it to do. Unlike the stock turbo, cooler or exhaust. Well even my 3" exhaust may prove to be a little on the small side up around 300kw at the rears. But in all honesty on the street I doubt it will be running that much power as I'm going to have the power reduced until it is drivable. No good have wheel spin to the point where you can't control it. That is one of the reasons why I went the larger motor, I'm hoping the power delivery will be smoother & tend not to snap the tyres in to a cloud of smoke or at least be more controllable. I think the RB20t has got me worried to much as the RB20t is a on or off motor. Its either nothing or everything.

If I do run in to problems with the manifold, she will do for a while until I get some more money together for a low mount manifold. Something that can be hidden or at least looks stockish.

I guess my point is, why throw it out the window before I see how it goes especially when the bottom end has cost me 4k and the top end has cost me close to 2k.

If only I bought a 33 to start off with it would have been much cheaper to get up to the power level I am after. Well it would have saved me 2k for both the head purchase & work/rebuild.

Why do you feel so strong about the custom exhaust manifold? What are your experiences?

Most people I have spoke to have said yer it does spool a little earlier and make slightly more top end and overall power but not really that much when you consider the negatives.

Joel,

Yeah same clutch mate. Xtreme 9 puck ceramic cushion button. We tested my pressure plate & it was 1095kg from memory. I've been really happy with mine so far, very easy to drive in traffic & hasn't even looked like slipping yet.

heres another pic of the pistons for anyone interested.

At this point i'd like to say a large THANKYOU to Joel for organizing this engine for us:)

Without his helpful advice I would be driving a rb20 still :) and wondering where all the power is :)

The price has blown out a bit though.

What makes me feel better is telling my self that the RB20t really isn't a good streetable engine as its power delivery when changing turbo's from std is too laggy. :) Well it works for me.

I forgot to add.

Thats what I keep telling the other half so she doesn't question why i am spending so much :) Even though she gets a little stressed with the lack of low down punch or should i say no low down punch.

A performance engine rebuild price blow out? That doesn't happen very often :)

yer it wasnt like it wasn't expected though. If we stuck to the "original" plan the motor would have only cost $1875 ish. :)

remember those days Joel?:) Ahh yer - it'll be finished by october :D

New oil pump throws things right up the sh.it worth 1/5 the motor :)

Speak to GTR-BEN as he is also doing the RB30 thing with his GTR.

There is also a RB30DET thread 'sticky' in the forced induction performance section of SAU. Ask the question there you may get a few more answers.

Looks like I'll be seeing how the R32's rb20det tows a vn v6 blown up commodore within the hour. I've dropped boost back a little from 17 as it is pretty hot and dropped the timing from 22 back to 15. Its going to be loaded up going up flagstaff hill road.

lol.. the vn shat a coil pack.. drove it home no towing.. :) I was looking forward to boosting as well.. :P

I've done it once before with a proper tow rope.. Came on to boost in first start to spin the wheels up. :)
