My car is an R33GTR. I have a blown exhaust gasket in the engine bay. I don't know which gasket it is, but I can hear it loud and clear. I am not sure about tackling this myself, so I am looking for a good workshop/repairer that doesn't charge heaps. I guess I would be wanting the complete exhaust/turbo setup regasketted while it was apart ( not necessarily internals of turbos), rather than doing the job again later if another gasket blows.

Can anyone help or advise.

Thanks,

Roger.

I've got a couple of quots already. Boostworx $1,000 so then I rang Auto solutions who quoted $1,000 plus around $400 worth of gaskets which makes me think Boostworx was maybe only quoting labour. I'll check that. Andrew at Autosolutions said he would also do the manifold studs while it was apart. Total should be under $1500 for the basic job. I may also consider getting exhaust manifold matched to the turbos while its all apart.

I just happen to have a noisy (on startup) bigend bearing as well, so I'm thinking of maybe getting it all done at once. This means pulling the motor, and though it won't be cheap for the big end operation (somewhat over 2K), it will greatly reduce the labour cost of the turbo gasket repair. I was just going to try a heavier oil or an additive to stop the knock, but that would just delay the inevitable, and while it's there they can add something to the gearbox to quieten the noisy bearing. Oh the joys of importing a car.
