salamandersushi
i work for a company that is the largest remarketer of insurance claim vehicles in australia - i used to work in the salvage department which involves dealing with all the insurance write offs that the insurance comapines pay out on and then onsell. ever since the GFC hit, denied claims went through the roof, because a lot of people got into financial trouble and did all sorts of weird and wonderful 'jobs' on their cars. as a result, if it is a single car claim (ie, no other car was involved in the accident), the assessors scrutinise the claim to the nth degree. so trust me, if you think you can get away with it - think twice - they've seen every single thing at least once before, and you will not get away with it, and you WILL get black listed for life. remember, it is the assessor job to find reasons to avoid paying out a full claim, and to undervalue your vehicle. Too true - I was working for the RAC when the big storm hit Perth earlier this year, and the number of stories of people trying to claim 'hail damage' when they'd just taken to their car with a hammer astounded me. One particular fool took apparently took to every panel of his car to falsify the damage and when trying to get the vehicle assessed was pulled aside and told the storm didn't travel in circles around his car shooting hail stones from all sides. PetroDola
Possibly not the best way to get yourself out debt? nah definately not. if i got my car for 16k and its red book is 20150 and insured for 20,150 , and its now got the lm gt4's , new suspension , hdi kit , and custom zorst.. what should i tack on the insurance monthly payments as nothing is financed and im on a rating one.. im hoping it only shifts my monthly payment up by 10$ but tacks on a good sum of value overall. I know i wont get dolllar for dollar on those mods. but say its 13k worth. would they tack on 5-6k extra on the cars value or is that wishfull thinking? will ring just car in the morning .. for now stella has to go in the shed cause shes got no locknuts on her shiny new shoes. lilcrash
I doubt that someone is going to buy her anyway, so it's a new paint job and some brakes and some more power thanks to a nistune and a gcg highflow. GTR-N1
Just so people know. The car I am selling did not go for a swim. I was just curious as someone suggested it as an easy insurance wright off. They said something about it being automatically written off due to sea water destroying the car and it would cost too much to repair rusted parts every few years. I am contemplating just parting my car as there isn't any interest in it. I just need to get back $15000 so I can clear all of my debts. I know that people will flame me talking about doing an insurance job but im getting desperate. I've been in too much debt for too long. ^^^ Tried stormchasing? Metaphoric as well as literal? Do you advertise it with a Brisbane address for better access & more lookers? lilcrash
I'm not in trouble just prefer to sell so that I can get out of debt and have a car that won't cost me money to be as quick as I want. I did check my policy. No where does it say anything about sinking my car nor does it say what accidents are covered Edited October 25, 2010 by lilcrash Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/341348-insurance-concern/page/2/#findComment-5515123 Share on other sites
