Correct Spark Plug Gap Size Info

Recommended Posts

Just read an article in a Zoom magazine where they tested a mildly modified R33 GTST and they tested different spark plug size. They put in Bosch new Platnum plugs. The gap sizes where 0.6,0.8,1.1,1.5.

The best performer was 0.8 right through the rev range, 1.1 was very close but lacking a few kw's up high , 0.6 was worse again and 1.5 was dreadful.

They said optimum gap would be around 0.9. Well guess what im doing this weekend, opening up my gap from 0.7 to 0.9 and hopefully gain a little extra up high.

well. i gaped my old plugs down to .7 and i got a new set and they were at .8 so i wacked em in. on 11.3psi it starts missfiring and crap.

looks like im goin to take my plugs out again and go back down to .7

and with em on .8gap i cant run 13's at all.

with .7 i get 13.550.

jsut some factual info.

BTW these are copper plugs, so they transfer the spark better then plats or irids
