well nice to meet you then! I think you know who I am?! I know Jon, Geoff, Raffi and Brock at BW but those are the only guys I've really worked with so far (and they have all been good to work with). You must be too important for the likes of me!

Anyway, those are just a few preliminary pics (taken in my kitchen) but I'll have some good ones later. Someone in this thread already posted some great pics of the 6258 including with the housings off etc so no need to go nuts. but I don't think anyone has really seen the manifolds for the RB26 tiwn 6258 kit up close and not fitted to the car before.

I just usually stay behind the scenes on most transactions, but I've been involved with a lot of the BW testing and talk with BrockStar regularly, I've been particularly impressed with the twin 62/58's thus far. (mainly because we really haven't had many of the big framed turbos) We don't have that many RB's here in the states and the twin set up we've tested out here has been very promising. (Very linear, plenty of power down low, no shuffling, quick shift recovery, etc)

What size injectors and how much fuel pump do you have going to these things? And what kind of fuel?

If I was in the States I would have got a Full-Race Manifold to go with the EFR 8374 I have coming....But it does get up there when you add the postage and Duty and GST into NZ

Very very nice - so to clarify, there will be dyno results for an EFR9180 and a twin EFR6258 setup coming soon?? Are the setups ones which the potential of these turbos might be unleashed?

You know about the 9180 car I think? it's a 3L, plenty of fuel, plenty of supporting gear and running on E85. No effort spared on that car. Boost will be as much as the turbo will efficiently run. Probably around 30psi or so? unless it makes masses and masses of power in which case it'll be turned down a bit (would have to be a fair bit for that to happen though!).

the twin 6258 car is running E85 too, again plenty of flow in both injector and pump has so far made over 400kw on 2860 -5s and a bit more on the -10s with the current support systems. It has a tough 2.6L and all the supporting gear and we are hoping for 450kw or so out of the 6258s and prepared to work them hard to get it. Comparing both compressor maps and just the basic wheel specs between the 6258s and the -5s and -10s tell me the 6258s should flow as much as -10s, they will be efficient at higher boost levels than either the -5s or -10s and much less prone to surge than the -10s (due to matter size match of compressor and turbine wheel). so basically -10 power without the massive surge zone. so much nicer mid and low range and still a bit hit up top.

yep. due to help from BW and Full race with the 9180 etc we'll be giving them feedback on it's performance and I'm sure they will most likely want some of the stuff like dyno sheets to go public. though being a competition car we don't want to give too much away but I'm sure dyno sheets will be forthcoming. Same goes with the 6258 car and yes results for both will be coming fairly soon. like count the time in days or weeks. certainly won't be months as they both have deadlines.

and yep, both set-ups are ones which will allow the potential of the turbos to be unleashed. they are both full on track cars so goal is driveable, usable power and lots of it through as wide a band as possible.

fingers crossed they both make good numbers indeed! I pushed hard for EFR turbos on both these cars so if they don't work I will have to relocate to arizona and move in at full race as my house will probably get burnt down or they'll make me eat the 9180!

That would be the High Octane R34 Time Attack Car?

Did hear a while back they were looking at the 8374 or the 9180.

I do wonder if the 9180 will be too big for a Time Attack car.....But then again, Eastern Creek is a big track, I just hope they have some Aero/Downforce for that monster this year.

Some really impressive/detailed stuff, along with the rest of the car which really does leave you jaw on the ground.

After just seeing that one car, I'm spewing im working and can't make it to WTAC :(

I should get my A into G and book a flight to watch this year....Fly there, take train to the track, watch some WTAC, train back to the airport, fly home.

I love Sydney public transport....probably cheaper for me to fly to Sydney to see this, than flying to Hamilton for the V8SC's......And I live in NZ!!

I do know about the 9180 car, that's a bad ass. I expect to see BIG usable numbers out of that thing.

The 6258 car may surprise you. We saw 405kw at 19psi here on our crappy 91octane fuel. If you're going to turn the boost up and run E85 and really "work" those turbos I wouldn't be surprised if you see closer to 500-520kw. Depending on boost levels obviously and provided you have enough pump/injector. The 6258 car here in the states ran out of pump, but had 2000cc injectors. It's running the ProEfi with a flex fuel sensor, and once there is more pump installed he'll hit the dyno again with E85 and see what she'll do. (and when it's not 110º outside)

Hopefully someone does some 7064-IG-TS+SR20 as well so I dont have to be a test pilot incase they're a flop on these engines!

As soon as my 8374 arrives and I have got Sinco to make the manifold (They have tacked it together to check first that it fits with this turbo) I will have the car on the NZEFI dyno (4x4 hub dyno) and we will see what it's like on a built RB30/26, I will post results/dyno sheet when done

I use a multi 2 ticket that gets me on any bus, any ferry, any tram and any train within the metro area with unlimited use for the week.

Trains are seldom late, buses fill the gaps, ferries make for something to do on the weekend, so on and so forth. I should get my license back in 2019 and so far the last 3+ years without it havent been bad :whistling:

    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well. 
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info 
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard 
    • Well, do ya, punk? Seriously though, let's fu<king go! The colour and kit looks amazing on the car. Do you have any shots from the rear? I don't quite follow how the model came around. You bought the white kit and he modified it to match your car? Looks nuts either way!
