I'm at Woolworths carpark. I've reversed out and I'm ready to leave (facing straight), when I notice a guy in a 4x4 starts to reverse to my right. I didn't move, instead I gave him a warning hoot. He keeps reversing and I start to beep furiously. I gave him at least 8-10 hoots. He keeps going.. straight into my right hand driver's door, pushing the front quarter panel into itself and popping the indicator out of its socket (luckily it didn't break.) Its pushed in so far that I can only open my door about half its actual swing angle.

My mate was in the passenger seat too, we were both stunned. How can some people be so crap at driving. Sure, he may not have seen me in his 500ft high forbie, but to not hear me hooting right behind him is beyond me. I doubt he even checked his side mirrors.

I ask him if hes got insurance. "No."

"Didn't you hear me tooting mate."

"Nah mate."

Luckily I had insurance. Also some kind lady gave me her number and name as a witness. I gave SGIO a call and have arranged to get it checked on friday.

It sucks though.. especially when I've only had this car for 2 months and its in immaculate condition (or was). How they let people drive without insurance is beyond me. Oh well, it sucks to be him.

I was also going to pick some chick up on thursday too.. grr.

Ah man that sucks... i had a similar incident where a small truck almost reversed into my mazda back then (brand new mps3 too) but luckily he managed stop about a foot away from my headlights.

Well as long as you have his name number, address, phone, details etc then your insurance won't make you pay the excess if you're comprehensively insured, they will basically pester and annoy him till he coughs up (my missus works in claims hoho) and eventually pass it onto a debt collector to pester him lol..

Crap like this is why my line has an air horn in it..

At least it's only a love tap of an accident in the end.

Sorry to hear about your accident, mate. You will be amazed at how some drivers on the road behave and drive, think they own the whole street. As for us who adore our cars, we just have to be more careful and can't even take a chance.

What car is yours? Some cars come with crap stock horn. My V35 coupe stock horn sucks, it's so freaking quiet.

 might swap horns then, between my wife's beemer and the GT-R.

Nah, a wrecker would be the best bet.

Saw a Klaxon F/S at Autobarn too - is it legal? Hmm... on second thought, I think only if it's a off a subsidiary button.

What happened to you Bizkit, has the makings of bad dreams!

good reason for me to go ahead with instalation of a train horn in my car.

yeah i hate it

im seeing shit drivers everyday, and when something happens on the news its about people driving sports cars

like what i just saw on the news

how the f**k does someone manage to drive into a house

in a suburban street.....WTF??

Fark I had a close shave yesterday!

I was reversing into a parking spot when a large black 4wd reversed out on my driver's side. I stared at the woman's rear spare tyre which was literally 10cm from my face and I beeped furiously luckily she stopped. She was very apologetic, lucky for her it wasnt a child (or her own child) playing on the driveway.

I would have been so pissed off with stupid repair jobs, total waste of time.

4wd's full stop should be banned from the public roads. The only people who buy them are f$@kheads who can't drive and think they will get the best possible look at the road by being higher! So many times been cut off by a wanker not indicating or bothering to look where he's going! And I'd say at least 95% of them you see on the road have never been taking 'off-roading' either!... and don't get me started on woman in 4wd's!! :D

Man, some people..

I get a call from SGIO telling me that they got a call from the guy who reversed into me. Apparently he told them that I was reversing at the same time as him, even though I was actually stopped waiting to leave, beeping the hell out of him to stop reversing. Because of this, SGIO has now sent me a few forms to fill in as a 'backup' report. I have to draw out a labelled diagram and write a f***ing essay on exactly what happened and how it happened.

After I get the quote from the panel beaters, which is apparently a 3 month wait due to all the hail damaged cars, I hope SGIO sucks every god damn dollar out of the ignorant f***ing loser who is stupid enough not to even have 3rd party insurance. Some people just suck at life.

you have your witness, 2 people against 1, i'm sure he's gonna get it either way.

That explains everything...

Every 2nd 4x4 (usually some soccer mum) I came across on the road the driver is completely unaware of their surroundings and is living in their own isolated world within their 2 ton tanks...

All the best in getting your car fixed & on the bright side at least you had full comp insurance, if you only had 3rd party then it is going to be even more of a pain in the ass to get it sorted seeing how dodgy the douche bag in the 4x4 is...

Well when they look at the actual damage they'll clearly see that his story is full of sh*t as if you were both reversing at the same time the damage would have most likely be at the back. Point is you have witnisses, the evidence is in your favour and you have insurance. He's going to have to pay back what ever damage he did and maybe even get in some trouble for lying in the first place :P .

wouldnt it of made more sence to of moved out of the way instead of sitting there letting the dip shit reverse into you???

as for the r34 it wasnt worth the money you paid at melville imports to start with, the guy is a major rip off. i took ur black 34 for a test drive before u bought it along with the others he had for sale, and in my personal opinion they where all over priced pieces of shit, and the amount of scratches the cars had on them turned me off straight away, but i must admit u probably got the best condition one. i'm just glad i didnt buy from him and went else where and purchased my 34

    • Any number of different ways. Have the coils draw sufficient current to provide contact wetting. Use different contacts in the switch, either by material or design, better suited to the low current drawn by a relay coil. Etc.
    • Hmm, how does the R34 manage to have headlight relays then without getting excessive carbon buildup on the headlight switch contacts?
    • Not R7R. Meant to type R&R, obviously enough.
    • Bugger "making it look stock". I put one conventional internally fused Hella relay behind each globe. I just pulled the plugs off the back of the globes and built new loom segments with male and female plug parts to match up to the original loom and the globe, and used the original power wires to each globe coming from the switch through the original loom plug to trigger the relays. Ran a big fat (also separately fused) power wire across the front of the car to feed all the relays. It's as ugly as f**k, but it is wedged down between the headlight and battery on the RHS and the airbox and headlight on the LHS, and no-one ever looks in my engine bay, and on the odd occasion that they do I simply give no f**ks for what they think. Fully reversible - not that you'd ever want to. For f**k's sake. It's a Skyline. They made million of the bloody things. We've been crashing them into roadside furniture for 30 years now. There is a negative side effect to putting relays on the headlights. The coil current is too little to properly clean the contacts in the switches and they get blacked up and you have to open them up every couple of years and clean them manually. I have 25 years of experience on this point.
    • I was poking through the R34 wiring diagrams vs R33 and noticed that the R34 has proper headlight relays while the R33 is like the R32 and sends full headlight power through the headlight switch. I'm not afraid of wiring but I really would like to do this in a way that looks OEM (clipping into open positions on the OEM relay box) and also unlike the factory wiring which interlocks the high beam and low beam on the halogen series 1 GTR headlights I want to make it such that turning on the high beams keeps the low beams on as well. Any advice on how to locate the specific connectors + crimp terminals + relays I need? I was thinking one NO relay for low beams and another for combined high + low running off the factory high beam headlight connector. I don't really want to splice into a crusty old probably discontinued factory harness so fully reversible is my goal here.
