1st up what size pipe is the z tube? Yes I know I could simply go measure the diamater of the std V35 intake but its 12am and I cant be bothered to pull off my airbox etc

2nd I was thinking about simply going to bunnings and picking up some plumbers pipe in whatever size the z tube is and then cutting them to size

the only hard part of this will be the connecting the breather/oil vapor line to the new PVC tube, but I do have a catch can left over from my 180sx that I can probaly put to good use

Measured the old stock tube that I had laying on the bench.

Inner diameter approx 74mm

Outer Diameter (inc. lip) 82mm

I am pretty sure getting them from the USA is pretty cheap?

Another "crazy" idea is to go around some wreckers and just do some measuring and see what you can come up with? Maybe a VN type commodore maybe close?

There are a couple on ebay for the $60ish mark plus postage, could be around the $100 mark delivered? Postage will be slowing down around this time of year due to christmas though.

Had a look for curiosity's sake and perhaps a VS commodore V6 pipe may fit.

But I think get the proper pipe.

in all seriousness I did not know the melting point of PVC was 80 deg

this is the reason I ask these questions on here before even considoring to do them for real

I did also mentio that this was a rather crazy Idea as well in the titel fcruz3r prehaps about as good as using duct tape as bunji jump rope :D

Whats wrong with the standard intake?

I have yet to see any real results from these "bolt on 11kws with a bit of tube" things that every man and his dog is selling.

im sorry but your car will not provide enough vacume in the intake pipe to cause a restriction.

maybe is it was a 400 odd cube V8 that has a 2" intake pipe, then yeah it might help.

the piping youre thinking of will probably have a higher melting point, being that you put hot liquids down the drain at home

that said, its gonna get hotter under a bonnet than most PVC piping will handle.

I do agree with this somewhat. I have a z-tube and K&N panel (which I purchased in very good 2nd hand condition from Bee) and I have to say, "by the seat of the pants" driving there isn't much difference. But the induction sound changed and it now has a nice growl!

was jus takin the piss at ya :P

but in all seriousness, had a mate drag running his mitsu mirage that had a pvc storm pipe elbow stick out of a cut out portion on his bumper to funnel cold air to the open pod filter ...looked ugly as but did the trick
