So I just got my car back from the tuners and Im not really disappointed with the results but am wondering if the dyno printout shows any issues.

253.2rwkw

HKS2835 ProS

sard 550cc

front facing plenum

powerFC with boost control kit

splitfire coilpacks

arc air intake

stock cams

adjustable exhaust cam pulley

98ULP

its disappointing that the dyno print doesnt show rpm so I find it harder to read than normal, but more experienced people may be able to see something from looking at this printout...

Does boost control look right?

Do I need the rpm indicator for more info of how the setup is performing?

Is power output lower than expected?

Any suggestions?

I did expect more peak power tbh, but Im more interested in midrange.

Its got boost control issues. You won't be able to make more power till you can hold it straight at around 18psi. needs a stronger actuator and hopefully it rules it out. I would go for a 24psi atmospheric pressure rated actuator, whichs should hold 18psi without boost controller. Garrett part: 446131-23

Agreed.

Compare the green line and the pink line. The green line is more flat in boost and therefore the power curve is more straight. The pink lines boost curve is a bit wavy and drops in higher rpm and is reflected by the pink power line.

Even so, the boost is very lazy coming on in the red and green line, not as bad on the pink, but still could be better.

What was changed between the red and pink runs, other than the peak boost? Because boost comes on a lot differently between the two.

Fix the boost issue to come on a lot harder and you will have better bottom end power, and fix the boost issue to hold boost better to redline and you will get your peak power.

Boost control is poor. Evident @ 135km/h where it drops off and so does power

The Dip around 120km/h is not related to boost however, tune would be most likely.

Fix the above two issues and you'll gain a soild 30-40rwhp in the midrange once you give those dips in the graph the flick.

It will be very noticeable once you do as well.

Also with boost holding into upper RPM likely peak power should increase also another 30-40rwhp as a 3-4psi drop is certainly hurting.

i also agree

its not holding boost to red line it start dropping of power fairly early/midrange

if it held boost correclty that turbo should see around the 280kw mark with those mod,

also how big is your exhaust, dump pipe, front pipe mainly

i had issues with that same turbo, ended up upgrading the front pipe to 3 1/2 " and fixed the issue i had with power output

thanks for the advice guys, I did think the boost control seemed a bit shaky...

I'm running the std HKS actuator and the PowerFC boost control kit...

I do have to go back for a bit of touch up on the tune so I'll see what they think but they felt the turbo was 'running out of puff' at 17psi so suggested the 12psi tune was the best compromise between power and not pushing the turbo too hard... I honestly expected 18psi as a start and go slightly up from there...

its not running out of puff at all, if those boost lines were all flat all 3 runs would be making peak power right where they backed off which is ~ 6800. hardly running out of puff. get it running a nice flat line at 18psi all the way to limiter and you'll notice a huge difference.

the pink line doesnt reach full boost until ~4600 and gets there very lazily. should ramp up hard and hit 16-18psi at around 3600-3800 at a guess

Yeah I was thinking that but they seemed really nice and helpful and they have a heap of experience...

I gave them the task of installing the bov and letting them choose which one they wanted to use, the stock one or a atmo HKS, they chose the atmo bov but they did ask where I wanted it installed I said well as close to the thottle body as possible, so under the drivers guard is the only space really.. when I picked it up they said that they were really impressed with how everything was installed and that the bov positioning worked really well, 'Im going to set them up like that in the future as well...

bit of a worry, but the idle is fairly good and none of the normal atmo bov issues...

so new actuator to replace the HKS supplied one or does the pfc boost control just need some tweaking?

and of course that will mean adjusting the fuel map as well right?

and that will I suppose cost me more right?

and here I thought getting a tune from a reputable workshop would mean first time done right...

yes the tune will need tweaking. there seams to be a lot of workshops out there that dont bother setting up boost control and light load maps properly, even reputable ones.

personally i'd take it back and have a talk to the tuner and ask him why its set up to come on boost so lazily, see what he says

well I did what I thought was right but I would of thought the tuner would atleast think it checking it surely??

I did tell them I did all the installs myself and did my best but they should atleast check what I have done...

atleast Im hearing what I was concerned about that it could be better and that unfortunately it still needs some work at the tuners...

Yeah i guess it just depends on the circumstances, tuner, time etc. But setting up the actuator is something you can do yourself and then just have the AFR's checked on the dyno. What duty cycle is the Boost control kit set to at the moment?
