Hey peeps!

Man, I has been busier than a one legged man in an arse kicking competition. Flat out at work, even busier at home prepping for the onslaught of festivities that befall us this time of year, as well as finishing off my new front garden and tending the buggery out of this years new chilli plants.

Started a new semi ornamental bed that has chocolate, white, orange and red habanero's, all circling a new hybrid habanero that throws orange purple red and green all from the same plant (apparently - havent seen any fruit from it yet) I also have a really nice African Yellow going now that is putting out some really nice waxy fruit about 6-8" long :P

My crossbreeding experiment from last year (a Black Pearl pollenated with a Thai Silk) has recovered from a late cold spell beautifully too and started throwing some rather tasty fruit too - a little smokier in flavour than the thai with a lot more moisture in the flesh than the black pearl. Its just a pity it didnt keep the awesome round shaped fruit, but you cant have everything. With all these colours I should get some kick ass salsa's this summer.

Got some 235-40-18's fitted to my rims, front fits good but the rears are as mexican as an enchilada, i think it needs a little more low all round and -2 camber at the rear it currently has -1.

That sounds awesome, Dale! My oldies went to Woolies the other day and some guy was walking around with a trolley of random fruits and vegies that were going for $2 a bag, regardless of what fruits or vegies you put in those bags. The oldies scored some decent sized chillies (not sure what kind, but all of them were red or green), but they were very heavily packed with seeds and apparently were pretty hot, even according to my old man. If you want (and assuming there are some left), I'll take a snap and post it up - maybe you can identify them?

weird buzzing noise came from my engine as i was turning it off.... hope the place i took my car to for a service didnt f**k anything up, weird shit has happend since i had it serviced....
same happened to my wifes Yaris since i put it for a service a few weeks ago, seems far slower and feels strange. Lucky i now have the Stagea to drive to work instead of her car

Dunno mang, i am far from a chilli expert, still learning myself, but stick some pics up and I will have a crack. Always up for chilli pics ;)

Heres a couple of mine

The multi coloured habanero experiment (in a recycled pot decorated by our youngest child, the artist formerly known as stinky chicken)

The African yellow - not a great pic, but this thing is fruiting like buggery!

Gave the stagea some love today, fresh oil and filters, good wash and polish... looking good again :P

Although (and let the abuse begin) I have been considering selling her for an FG XR6 turbo ute... I know! I know! I hate fords and holdens.

But after recently driving a stock standard one, I was impressed at the power, and after doing a little research it doesnt take much to push 300rwkw.

Please talk me out of this...

RWD = no grip at higher power levels (although that could be a good thing for some - but then you gotta keep buying tyres)

Build quality = sub-par (still a Falcon)

Can only seat 2

Bogan - means you would have to join a Ford forum, buy some flannel and drink VB (AND watch all of Bathurst in your garage)

I just dont see an XR6 ute as being anywhere near as refined as our Stags. If you were wanting a bit more poke, then obviously theres a question of how far down the rabbit hole you want to go - but Id say you could get some decent gains from your car without too much more money; to maxamise your exahust setup I'd say an F-Con V or Greddy E-Manage would be your best investment, should be getting you towards 200awkw on the stock turbo (Based on Scottys experiences) - plus its the exact opposite of a bogan spec ute :P

Hi everyone,

I rarely post on these forums but a few days ago to keep my S2 Stag long term (was going to sell it soon and get a new car). So today I went out and did a few bits and pieces that I should have done a while ago.

Fixed up the tweeter covers (my tweeters didn't fit inside where the stock ones used to), Added an english Fusebox sticker and added a USB/12V charging station into the storage compartment near the 'Snow' button on the centre console. The USB thing actually turned out pretty good for 90 mins work! I also removed the centre console and headunit panels and scrubbed them thoroughly. So much crap gets in between the gaps.

Over the next 6 months I am gonna sort out: Orbital Liquid LPG (dedicated if allowed), Exhaust, FMIC, Carputer that does everything, with Stag logo on the main screen :P, Fix the LEDs in the Climate control screen, Raise the Coilover height slightly, Rear camber arms, 350z Rims and Brakes, retrim the steering wheel, new front seats (my hair skims the roofline in the stock seats) and fix up damaged RH headlight and front indicators

Pic of the USB thingy attached.

nah ben they are awesome cars, you should buy one for sure. And when you do, First dibs on your wheels... :P

haha IF i do decide to sell I would part out the wheels, brembos, coilovers, sway bars and exhaust....

But I do agree with what most of you have mentioned. Especially the part about being a bogan! haha in fact I have a funny story about that. The other day I was at the pub with a mate discussing the idea of getting an XR6t and this rough dude in flannel, missing teeth and a mullet comes up and says "are you thinking about getting a falcon turbo? They are F#$@ing sweet cars mate, you should definitely get one - I've had one for a couple of years now!". My mate who had opposed the idea from the beginning pretty much fell of his chair and says "enough said!"

But they are a much newer car, and they do have loads more power not to mention MANUAL! - yes less grip, but that can be fun too...

Ideally I want my car with 300rwkw and an R34 GTR gearbox... but that aint cheap!

today i fixed my rear sunroof, it was leaning over a little at one side so i took off that side and slid a couple of metal plates under where the bolt fixes and raised it up about 3mm. i also had a look at how hard it is to remove the sideskirts

thats what happens when you have a turbo 4L engine. if nissan did one, it would be a hell of a monster!! ohh wait they have a 3.8L V6 TT.

its a shame it took a nissan performance shop to get decent power from that ford engine

haha IF i do decide to sell I would part out the wheels, brembos, coilovers, sway bars and exhaust....

Don't do it Ben. .. I will have to take you for that drive soon..

Cheers

How is, ryan?. Im completing a MCITP Enterprise Administrator certification atm. I got to brush up on my AD and group policy. Has been a total head fark compared to Server 2003. Its really hard to "unlearn" something and do it the Microsoft way. Ill see where this industry qual gets me, bloody cost me enough. At least its not the CNNP yet. Ive been working in the private sector with VOIP and VMWare as of late. Its been too long since i last picked up my strat, you've inspired me again man.

I have the 70-647 book next to me but I have been too busy. Reviewing with the CTO whether it is worth me doing Enterprise Admin or just Server Admin and getting Exchange 2010 and then OCS/Lync done sooner... Good thing I hadn't started.

SOOOO BUSY.

Don't do it Ben. .. I will have to take you for that drive soon..

a wagon to a ute? thats a pretty big difference. I wouldnt do it.

It's kind of like, a guy dating a girl, they break up, n he becomes gay. She turned him. you dont wanna be like that do you?

Why would you go from someone with a big ass booty, to .. umm.. nothing?

    • Reading your posts Josh, sometimes I feel like I've gone in a time machine back to the 90's when everyone was doe-eyed and figuring things out for the first time.  I've lost track of how many single turbo GTR's I've seen on track that haven't burnt down lol. Everything has been figured out a long time ago. These things are at the point now where its essentially turn-key to go single turbo.
    • Among other things yes. Making sure to either use an oil pressure regulator or the right restrictor size for your oil pump/range of oil viscosities you intend to run, making sure you plumb the lines correctly, turbo should be placed such that it siphons properly even when the water pump isn't turning so you don't boil coolant in the turbo after shutdown, oil return should be low resistance and also preferably picking the one that is most likely to return to the pickup as opposed to some other irrelevant part of the pan. It's far from impossible to figure this out but I have seen people really, really struggle and if that's the case it's easier to just take the path of least resistance. To me, bolt-on twin turbos are a fixed cost whereas single turbo is almost unbounded.
    • Latest round of updates on the car. I purchased and installed a SWS clutch slipper to help with 60ft times and got some second-hand good condition 275/40R17 Hoosier DR2 radials. Test and tune in November showed the tyres were an upgrade over my over 15 year old mickey Thompson's and I got a 1.8 second 60ft and pb et of 11.71 but even then, that run wasn't great due to rain and driver error (the event got called off 10 minutes later fast forward to the weekend just gone 25th of Jan and there was finally a break in the weather to let racing happen. The first run the track was slippery and only managed a 12.1@129 Second run the track was better and got a new pb et and mph: 11.54@131   Lith and I then worked out that I installed the previously mentioned clutch slipper incorrectly and its never been working, and I had just been dumping the clutch the entire time, we also noticed it was on street boost and not race boost. So I lined up for a third run with the car turned up in the first two gears, but the passengers side axle objected to clutch dumps and left the chat which stopped my weekend.   so there will be another attempt in the future once I replace the tyres as they rubbed and are stuffed now. but a low 11 should be on the cards.
    • Ceramic coating and heat shielding, you mean?
    • Turbos don't require pulling the motor apart so that's "easier". I would recommend the Nismo R3 turbos instead if you want to do stock twin turbo. It doesn't make as much power as the 2530s but it's only like ~50 whp off the mark and should have better response (ball bearing CHRA, slightly smaller turbo). A local that went with a Garrett G30 and 6boost manifold recently nearly burned his car to the ground after the hood insulator started melting and and burning so if you go single turbo I recommend doing a lot of research and validation work to make sure you don't do the same.
