Well I'm in Melbourne. Got in last night.

Hotel ends up being a bit average in the rooms, but the staff are really nice and there was a free drink waiting for me on the bar last night :D

Saw Tutankhamen in the museum today, thought it was a bit overpriced but pretty interesting. Got tickets tomorrow night for the Melbourne Gaol Hangmans Tour.

Great spot, short walk to where I'm doing my Google Adwords training, the whole reason for coming over, Lygon Street, the Gaol and the Museum.

Saturday morning is the Aquarium, then heading to Narre Warren. Haven't been to Melbourne with time to see the place in 10 years, so not too bad. Might catch up with Aaron since he has time on his hand, and Jethro if the Silk Roads haven't knocked all of his teeth out :nyaanyaa:

So I guess at the end of it you'll have stronger wrists?

(3 weeks off/nobody around/what to do, what to do?)

umm..f**k YEAHHH!

yeh man i should be free this weekend.. just give me a shout!

I've just got back from Melbourne, where I was 'lucky' enough to meet Aaron, Scotty and Ironpaw, and go for a ride with Aaron and Ironpaw.

All I can say is WOW. These two cars are pretty serious road cars!

Aaron's was first up, and what I liked most is all the little things that were done, and all the little differences. There was a lot of basic things he'd done on his car that I could do to mine and they'd cost my stuff all. A trip to Jaycar is in order...

The power was impressive but the delivery is even better! Much less lag than mine, it just tears off like a rocket, with so much torque it's incredible! The way it performs manual changes is much improved and pretty savage for an auto. Could almost have believed it was manual... And the noises were cool. Sounded like a performance car, which I liked. Just an all round great car, even if he is trying to nut out a couple of issues.

Ironpaw's, by comparison, didn't seem to have the same power delivery or gearbox as Aaron's. I'm not sure if this is down to the way it was driven, but I think Ironpaw hasn't done the auto valve body upgrade or much else in the way of gearbox? Ironpaw is only 15kW down on Aaron, but it felt like a bit more.

And then we got to a corner. The new Silk Road's are insane! So stiff through the corners that it felt like it responded brilliantly, yet somehow was fairly compliant and dare I say it acceptable around the roads we took. This was the first one I'd been in with coilovers though, so I'm not sure if I'd get this experience from any car with coilovers, but having just fitted sway bars and driven mine (on stock suspension) through the hills, mine pales in comparison to this one.

I think Aaron's power and delivery with Ironpaw's suspension, braking and cornering performance is my new goal. Absolutely brilliant, both of them, in their own different ways.

I very much appreciated the hospitality of Aaron, Scotty and Ironpaw. Never met me before, but took me for a drive in their precious rides, and I even got to see inside Scotty's cave of wonders :worship:

Great to see a couple of the more developed M35s in Aus, and thanks to all involved. Now I better get back to work! MOAR POWAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

I reallllllllly don't wanna know what you kids got up to

lol

I'm sure Scott's wife will agree :nyaanyaa:

And Aaron: Get some good shocks! Seriously!

yeh i will eventually, like i said, i currently have bigger issues to worry about, suspension isnt gonna screw up the engine

I got the same shift kit Aaron did...It think its probably the driver...I'm not as good as chucking my car around as Aaron

And I haven't done that trans resistor mod....

Dammit I need to get the ATTESSA fixed....I did a few 3k rpm launches last night and all it did was wheelspin and accelerated at a slow ass rate. This was in 2nd, manual mode.

How to launch in 2wd mode? lower RPM?

perhaps the fact it was near hailing last night is why you were wheelspinning.

you can put it in 2wd by dropping the shaft or unplugging the attessa, but it will just wheelspin and you'll possibly die from the mighty pole, or tree.

1 = Get a limo

2 = Stall and launch at about 2,500rpm......but without a limo you may still light it up!

3 = You may have to soften or raise the rear of the car slightly so it bog's down

Dude my car's already in 2WD mode...the 4WD light is pretty much lit up all the time which means ATTESSA is farked right? Every time I start the car I can hear the pump making chirping noises every 5 sec...

And the weather was fine last night. Was a tad windy but wasn't raining at 9-10pm where I was...

And yeah, the car did want to steer right when I launched it...hmmm

    • Thanks for that.... If only I could do something once and be happy with that, like some people do....
    • I had no transmission at all so I managed to find a big box manual gearbox from an R34 GTT for an insanely good price in EU. I converted it to push type which cost more than the transmission almost, with parts from Amayama! These engines are very strong and can put out decent power with a properly sized turbo. You can save on money from parts like pistons and rods, and invest those in the transmission and other parts. I suggest you join the RB20 Enthusiasts facebook group, plenty of info and almost daily posts there about 20DE/DET/Neo+T builds. (I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by mentioning third party platforms, just trying to help the buddy out)
    • Yeah, having tried all of those methods including BBQ+recipro/hacksaw, I ended up buying a bush press kit under $150 that works well, like this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/355967727167?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=sfmmuhxgqhm&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=dJvnaZ11TB-&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY It basically has a range of pushers and cups with threaded rods between to press out a range of large bushes. The problem with any sawing solution is minimising damage to the subframe side, although it probably needs a quick sand afterwards no matter what solution you try due to damage
    • Hi. Thanks for the answer. I do not have instagram 😄 I too considering turbo the RB20DE NEO 🙂 But i think i upgrade the gearbox first or at least buy new.
    • Just pulled the passenger apart so got a good idea, also the side bracket that pivots the top half is completely cooked.. how I don’t know.. haha and paid $400 also included a photo of the passenger seat! She is mint
