anyone else heading up to coffs harbour next month for the australian leg of the WRC?

Thinking about heading down, but I'm taking my son to see Ken B in Melb plus going to Syd for Stagea 15th anniversary cruise. Too much stuff going on me thinks.

thought I would post this as it's a great cut

Welcome Cameron. I like the look of your car. You know, I don't think I've seen anyone on here talk about sound systems in the M35. Most people who change head units probably just leave the speakers in place, although I could be completley wrong. Maybe you could become the resident M35 audiophile & tell us which ones work best & tempt us to spend more money? lol.

hey mate, yeh they are 6" splits on the front and 6" co-axle on the rear. the stock speakers have a narrow back so you'll need spacers made up to fit new ones, that and the screw holes dont line up. plus it would be easier to find 6.5" splits

as a sound engineer - I personally hate the sound of kenwood speakers. ide be looking more into the German Maestro or Focal stuff. the type R's seem to suffice aswell..

I have 400 Bad request where ads are usual. WTF How to get rid of it??????????????

What does it mean??????????

 Yeah, the server that spits outs ads for SAU is broken - its not serving out the ads but instead spitting out '400 - Bad Request' Its not anything for you to worry about, just be thankful you dont have annoying ads there :woot:

Thanks leon, yeah i am in love with my stagea i waited 6 months to find the one i wanted, and ill let people know what i found that fits best and how it all went.

Aaron i indeed like the sound of focal too and in my early years used them and other high end stuff im just a little more concious of funds these days but thanks for the heads up on kenwood have you any other suggestions of what sound good in the main line brands? alpine or pioneer etc

im a big fan of jaycar speakers, they always rated pretty high in the tests in audio magazines

thats cool. the entry level German Maestro's are insane for what you pay for em. theyre probably all up $150.00 more than the kenwood mid range, but sound as good as their top range stuff - and they dont sound too bad without amps either.

as iain said also the Jaycar stuff isnt all that bad - cheap/effective/40-50w which can be run of the standard head unit or any aftermarket without the need for an amp!

I think its just me, but if you have the "gay" facia that isnt 2din, and the panasonic blue door speakers, i wouldnt change them. anything without an amp aftermarket wont sound any good - unless you upgrade to the bose factory system. stock speakers are actually really good!

    • Yeah. Will f**k a tight nut. Will possibly f**k a non-tight nut, if accidentally put on too off-centre. Otherwise... I've always been tempted to buy one to see how good they are. Thing is....I have all the other sockets, spanners, etc. So, unless I was trying to build a 1 socket kit.... see little point.
    • Donut tried them out, they were fine as long as the bolt or nut wasn’t very tight
    • It is a very complicated plastic tank. Sitting between the rear seats and the rear subframe. Requires a siphon venturi pump in the hat to suck the fuel from the passenger side to the driver side of the tank. The answer is probably prepping the tank very carefully to eliminate all fuel fumes, drilling any cracks to stop propagation, then plastic weld. I don't really see any other solution here.
    • Does anyone know when your oil drops viscosity, if it is an issue? I imagine with tuned cars they will be overfueling more compared to a stock standard car and will thin out over time.
    • anyone ever used these ? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/186214260439?_skw=socket+set&itmmeta=01JEG3TKV388ZXGP8N7CHNCQ45&hash=item2b5b3c1ed7:g:mhAAAOSwwB9lf~Xm&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwHoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKkJwJeiNMm%2FsStacz%2BhjzBowaFnbNCowwe08vVGrW0FbesCs%2Flw%2FQYjDQLjKsuKvgysWT9%2F4b9AZUX3qLP5RDfFhtD8DxufvqBbyZrQAQXuG3h8%2BxxqhWhH8fIfU84eA9W7VIpxDNw9MWj9BdfkkMasYhcqOjTrcKwLyD3ftzZbaZb2Us7%2FFR1Q2kcT68ZYRU77%2F%2BtRr1qBS27BXxh%2FjWBQxhWyUcLlEFIb%2BITZPIKwxQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABlBMUOy96oP0ZA   I believe the idea being, the rods push back around the shape of whatever nut you put in there. Sounds pretty handy to just need to carry 1x socket in the car for 'most sizes'  but, theory vs reality, anyone tried them?
