Well, apparently I haven't done enough "running-in" on the forged engine. Builder/tuner wants another 800kms on it before high boost is wound into it. Must admit I didn't give it curry....

Tuned at 13psi for 230rwkw. Be a couple more months before I do the kms; meh never mind.

Bullshit. Is he not confident in the build?

If its going to go bang it's going to go bang. Run it in on the dyno, tune, and off you go! How else to competion cars do it!

Oh, I found an engine I enjoy driving more than an RB!

But I miss my brutal 32...

Yeah Ryan - I know.

Its the tuners way to get you back out there to spend more coin at another appointment.

Car is driving very well at the moment, will have a hi-boost tune done sometime down the track & then find a new tuner who is much closer to home (cant be f**ked heading out other side of town every time, arranging lifts etc., only to have half-arsed work performed).

In awesome news, recieved 1st round offer to study my first choice (medical imaging). Has a Tertiary Entrance Rank of 99.05! Adult re-entry for teh winnah!!

Shit, good job! Gives me hope that i might do the same at some point. Being sole income makes it a bit hard, maybe once i buy and pay off a house.

Brendan how can you say car is running really good atm but then complain about half assed work ??? And you have to put 1000 to 1500ks on forged engine for proper running in with two or three tunes before its all good. its not an old v8 dinosuar where you just plant your foot a few times and bam she is run in .....

I say half-arsed 'cause they never do all that I ask. Simple things mate; such as replace broken turbo water line when engine was out (instead they do a dodgy fix, then charge me again to do another dodgy fix to fix up the dodgyness), other things like giving back my window washer ability which they removed years ago, in fact theres a heap of things Ive asked to be done that I end up needing to go back and ask to get done. Never ending loop.

I say the engine is running very well as it is. Probably the best its ever run. Great power for 13psi, economical tune - Im happy with that. But once the hiboost tune is performed I doubt I'll be back for more tunes due to a) distance from me, b) funds due to being a student, and c) over it. Its just a car to me now; I can do the general maintenance work so there shouldnt be a need to head back after the next tune.

Yeah man, got off all medication in September and moving forward with great pace! Hitting the gym again (11 sessions in) & having great leg progress, added in leg extensions today with no issues and pushing out reps of 110kg for leg press - up from 40kg 4 weeks ago.

Most importantly - NO KNEE PAIN !!!!!!! Over the moon. Life is good again.

Ryan - I say go for it mate.

thinking about doing a top power / time Stagea rep list.

What do you think, and what categories would you like to see in it?

I was thinking spilt into C34 / C34 RS260 / NM35 / PM and PNM35 and mods stated.

Then groups would be

  1. top 5 power
  2. top 5 1/4 mile
  3. Track times (eastern ck, wakefield, phillip Is, qld raceway etc etc)
  4. State by state breakdown + over the Dutch bro section

We could sticky it, and update when needed

What would you like to see different/added in to a thread like that? ie RB25 v RB30? Or do you hate it and just want to go back to moving sofas and shit in your wagon?

Good idea. Top times per track would be good, because can't see me cutting too many laps of Wakefield/Eastern Creek any time soon. Mallala will be a start.

Or...

Drag day where we have to run with 'sofas and shit' in the back of our wagons?

For nearly everyone these are our daily drivers. Makes sense that we try for our best times whilst loaded up with car seats/tools/amps/sofas etc, that's just how we drive them, hey.

Otherwise it becomes a case of 'he who has the time to strip the most out of his car' wins, lol.

Raises an interesting question: how much more power/torque is required just to offset an extra 100kg?

If it seems to matter I just might get the missus to do my drag times in future! :P (first Adelaide will need a 1/4 mile track mind you!)

No point splitting up PM and PNM Alex. Might as well split up AWD and RWD C34's if you are going that way... and manual and auto configurations.

I reckon keep it simple and have it split into engine types.

C34, 260RS, NM35, PM35.

Do like the idea though :)

We do - Someone has taken over AIR. ANDRA Pro Series has been announced to be coming back, and there are a couple of street meets coming up.

Pretty sure the first couple of meets are still 1/8, but it does sound like it'll be upgraded/resurfaced to 1/4 in the very near future!

The recent change by ANDRA to allow different racing distances for the Championship has allowed Adelaide International Raceway back onto the calendar. The Pro Series event in April will be conducted over the stated NHRA Championship distance of 1000 feet (or just over 300 metres).

Looks like you're right.

I heard the issue is run off. Since AIR has been off the calendar, the minimum run off distance has been increased, so unless they change the rules back, they can't run the Pro Series over the 1/4 mile.

Not sure if that causes an issue with street drags though, but they ran the last meet over 1/8 mile.

What's a good time for 1/8 mile? They run drags over that distance not far from me, but never knew what to expect time wise. May have to give it a go sometime.

That distance was chosen so they didn't have to build a crash barrier (between lanes) the entire length of the track (old airport). Must be some rule about safety...

    • Yeah its bad eh. Ey! Watch your mouth. Yep, spot on. The rear's are always gone too though from brake checking. I had them perilously close to a tree that we had taken down. I think the tree peeps may have taken it. Either for a trophy, or accidentally.
    • f**kin' yikes! That insulation is the shittest stuff I have ever seen. You need to do an insurance job on that f**ker, pronto. WRT to the washer cover, I would have said that there'd have to be some at a wrecker, then remembered that it's a BMW, and reasoned that every single wrecked one would have been tailgating and so the front end would be trashed.
    • Oh and I lost my headlight washer jet cover!
    • Ok, so I got myself some X1 wheels really cheap to try out, they're a bit different and I like them but they're really narrow (18x8) they are available in staggered 18x8/9 also but really hard to find.  I kinda dig them, but not as much as the F10 19's I usually run, so these go into the wheel pile.         As I mentioned in another thread, I got a new exhaust. It's an off-the-shelf stainless one that fits OH-KAY. I don't love the tips size and how far they come out the back, I think I might cut the tips off and replace with some smaller (~3") ones that don't extend as far. It sounds really good though, I'm not sure if its just in my head but the car feels a little quicker, more responsive.      I fitted an eBay special front lip. Surprisingly it fit perfectly and all holes lined up. Its a little rickety but I haven't put any double sided tape on yet, I want to clean the front bar up where it has scraped the road a lot and fil in the number plate holes (or, get body coloured wrap to cover them - is this a thing?  I'm not sure if I'll leave it gloss or pain it matte. I really like it though, I don't particularly like the front bar without it, I don't really like the M-Sport and to get anything else is just too expensive. That said, I might need a new one now anyway as I dropped the car onto the jack after forgetting to put ramps under the front wheels. It bent a lot and while it did go back to normal after I got the car off the jack, I do fear I have not done it any favours.    Lastly, my headlights died. Different problems in each. They have gotten much dimmer over the past year or so, I put new (uber expensive) OSRAM bulbs in them but to no avail. One of them pointed at the ground and the other just kinda did its own thing with light working sometimes. Yeah, check this 18 year old BMW headlight wire. I reckon I know why they were stuffed.            BTW, the yellow and black is the power to the Xenons. Yikes. I hunted around an researched my options here. I would have loved to just get a replacement harness but not a thing. My car has adaptive headlights, that is they rotate left and right with the steering wheel. Good condition used adaptive xenons were over $700 each, non adaptive were around $400 each, but I couldn't help but think that they're all around 18 years old now, surely they'd have the same problems. So I looked at newer LCI headlights but they were even more expensive and I couldn't confirm that they'd be plug and play with lots of people having lots of opinions so not worth the risk.  I ended up getting brand new Chinese headlights from MARS. They're very close to OEM with only the angel eyes being a bit different. I didnt want crazy turn signals or sharp DRL's or anything. Not my bag.  They're not adaptive, I thought thats a feature I wouldn't really miss. So I coded that out.  The lights are awesome, they look so nice and they take so many years off the car. The angel eyes look great and the headlight brightness is ridiculous. I was so used to the old ones, I didn't realise just how bad they were. The new ones use the OEM bulbs, Xenon ballast and leveller motor which I was happier with. The only issue with them is that the rear cover is held on by SEVEN screws. This will be a nightmare to get to and open when I need to change bulbs.
