might have to do some tricky DNS redirects and force the firmware upgrade to come from my own machine

Same. That's why I'm lucky to have found the job I have at the moment. I work for a nonprofit who's main program is a technology donations program to other nonprofits. We facilitate the donation programs of Microsoft, Cisco, Symantec and SAP amongst others in Australia, NZ and now Asia.

Hence I'm sitting online all day!

I rocked up to the local HN @ 2:10 and saw the line was out the door. Saw there was only 40 or so units for say and said f**k it...

Depends what you were trying to achieve with them - as a portable media player / web browser @ $98 it doesnt really matter that its not a high spec'd machine! I would've picked one up for sure.

telstra were selling samsung galaxy tabs for $300 outright, no plan/contract/unlocked a few months ago.

its an awesome media player with GPS. ohh and comes with angry birds for free lol except that i cracked mine and put gingerbread on it

Id love one of the new Galaxy Tab 10.1's.. but definitely want a good deal on one because ultimately it'd be used as a web browser 99% of the time and I already have a netbook for that I'll have to see if they have them duty free in NZ next week!

if you get a branded one, make sure its got the standard ROM on it. the telstra branded version i had was soooooooooo slooooooooow. installing gingerbread made me not want to throw it at someone

Lol where else u gonna get a 16gb dual core 10inch tab for that price?

Plus xda devs are working on a hc port on it anyway...
