DivHunter
Was the site created inhouse and everything completely original? Is it a complex site? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/342591-copying-websites/#findComment-5525927 Share on other sites
macdog
Hmmm Lawyer, not too sure at the moment. the website is exactly the same design, all they have changed is the colours of the boarders, same photos and everything. the only thing that is different is the front page. I just think it's really poor form and discredits our company. When someone makes a website wouldn't they want to make it there own design? Why would they want to copy someone else's, I don't understand. Unless you are providing some kind of paid service that involves your companys' IP you've got nothing. mad082
who designed your company's site? was it in house or out sourced to a site designer? if it was in house, did they do the whole thing from scratch or did they use a template? Munkyb0y
template for sure. no one designs a site from scratch and makes it identical to an existing site. would take more effort than making it original. mad082
Well then you really don't have a leg to stand on. what's not to say the same guy didn't make the other site too? pretty sure that technically speaking the site creator owns the design not your company. Hahaha, fair point... but the guy didn't design the other one. it would be pretty funny if he did though. has this happened to anyone else though? Spurdo
bound to have happened a million times over already given every man and his dog has a webpage these days. i'd say there will be many cases of web designers pulling a sneaky one and pulling out an old template from a previous job, passing it off as new work and charging full money for doing half the work lol. whos to say your designer didnt do that to yours in the first place? lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/342591-copying-websites/#findComment-5527066 Share on other sites
ianjb
You wont get anywhere with anything on this. It's unfortunate, but design theft is huge on the intergoogle. If its the same content then you can report them to google and they can lose search results, but outside of that don't waste time thinking about it.
