a few of the bikes shat themself...busted crank cases and legs stepping out of bed... damn

Whatsisname looked to be having a few problems with traction when i saw one of his passes later in the night . 12.85 @ 108mph???.. I think it was him anyway.

Would have been a much better event if it wasn't 50degrees out there, such a shame.

I rocked up at midday, left and 3 and came back at 7pm to watch the rest of the racing.

Was interesting seeing the rotor blow up and catch on fire earlier in the day and thankfully no one was hurt cos those flames weren't going out in a hurry. I dont think racing should be run in those conditions though, 60 degrees track temp is beyond a joke.

Tim

Tim,

Yeah had a few traction issues mate, on top of piss poor driving & so on.... I tell ya', if a motor can survive getting pushed in those kind of conditions it's doing well. After I found & fixed a boost leak on the way home the car felt very good on 17psi even back on my daily driver map.

Anyway here's my little track report from an entrants point of view -

Holy shite was it hot out there today! I'm guessing I was well down on power due to the crazy intake temps!

Our little Boost Worx set-up included 3-4 eski's full of water & coke, & we cleaned up most of it without any of us taking a piss. Gives you an idea of how much fluid loss through sweat was occuring!

At one stage the track temp got to near 70'c

So how did I go....? Well it could've been a lot better, even with the temps.

I discovered I had boost leak on the way home. One of the boost controller lines had rubbed through against another pipe. It was a big enough leak to hear it once I had little other surrounding noise. I didn't notice the small drop in boost pressure until later, on the drive home.

I did a total of 4 passes:

#1

Time - 11:51am

Temp - 44.1'c

60' - 2.353

ET - 13.52

MPH - 108.03

(Boost controller turned off - not intentionally - oops! 10psi boost. Piss poor bogged launch)

#2

Time - 12:22pm

Temp - 44.7'c

60' - 2.229

ET - 12.96

MPH - 114.05

(Boost controller on & set to 17psi. Crap launch)

#3

Time - 7:21pm

Temp - 37.6'c

60' - 2.447

ET - 13.39

MPH - 114.91

(First ever competition pass - red lighted & fouled out. Bogged the launch & then 2nd spun to buggery! 17-18psi)

#4

Time - 10:33pm

Temp - 34.1'c ( 34+ @ 10:30pm is bloody crazy! That's like Singapore weather)

60' - 2.207

ET - 12.84

MPH - 112.88

(Boost leak caused a noticeable loss of power on this run, & I backed off straight after the finish lights. 16-17psi & leaking)

I really need to get my shit togther & at least run a 2.1XX 60' on street rubber - well that's the plan. No slicks, as I'm only interested in running in full road trim @ this stage.

Shaun has tuned the motor nice & conservative, it can take can up to 25psi no probs (probably more). He was suggesting I run 20-21psi today but I'm a bit limp wristed & decided to keep the boost down to ~17-18psi.

I'll wait till the next street meet & if it isn't too hot (low 20's would be nice) I'll try again with 20+psi on board.

congrats Matt, into the 12s! good TS, shows heaps of potential esp 'cos of the high temps, and dare I say it, less than optimal 60' times:)

Good to hear the engine held out, I know you werent too comfortable about running in the heat, as, I think, not too many people would be.

Well i made the mistake of going there @ 3pm and waiting round till 6pm till i got to see something remotely like i went there for......... Mrs National Ladies were alot better this yr tho :)

As for your comment timmy about the wheather........ I cannot think of enough foul words to descride it one word does it well tho FUCT! :bs!:

Track temp was stoopid and dangerous in my opinion with most of the hi-po cars coming unstuck down the deep end.

They need to work this stuff alot better i mean with those temp's the chance of something really big goin wrong and people getting hurt!

Action was good when racing got back to normal tho, well as normal as could be, Kier seemed to be having some troulbe Launch wise but when the car got goin ------------------------------- CCCCCCCCYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAA!

The MORPOWA lancer did well as far as a new car goes running 10.XX all day if i'm right, high 9's should be doable for them......

Later in the night time dropped a lil but nothing dramatic but after 10:45 i was outta there so i don't know the outcome of the FINALS which sucks ass but.

As for the wheather i post something nice that should sum up the wheather and maybe a lil of the organisation.....

PS seen a few of the boys out and about like Timmy (When u were leaving as i was coming in) Andrew, MattR and Enrico but was a lil too shy to say hi

I dunno man I didn't c ya... I woulda said hi otherwise. I saw dean but he was too far away and prolly selln drugs 2 support his car modification fetish so i didn't hassle him... :)

Anyone know how Andrew in his s15 ended up going? I nearly died when i saw how fat the GT S15 was... that thing looks just incredible, and sounded just as good too!! Did Vas in his VL get to run? Gotta love those RB30T's... I can't get over how fast PANNIC (yellow VLT) gets across the track, having never seen a VLT run since Vas couldn't get a decent run in last year. I dunno if keir improved on a 9.5 at 153mph??? he ran earlier in the night. MPH signs are good for him because I didn't seen him nail a decent take off once at all...surely the temps couldn't have been doing him much of a favour either, I was suprised he bothered running at all.

Did any other members race that i didn't know about??

I rolled down there at 8.30pm when the weather was cooler.. from what i heard i missed out on sunburn during the day and that was it. John and I opted for shopping at TTP instead.

Anyways, I agree with the others. Having racing in that sort of heat is just silly. It would have been far more beneficial to re-schedule the day.. better weather, not valentines, drag combat not on same day... etc etc etc...

I did not speak to anyone who was happy with their track time. Keir was saying he was out in the sun waiting in his car, in suit etc for 45 minutes at one stage.. (thats like 60plus degrees) just to race! I see a continual lack of organisation with AIR. But in all fairness... they were not to know about the weather were they.

I loved the Yellow (rb30?) Vl... such a smooth and responsive glide down the quarter.. he made is look effortless.. loved it.. and he even still pulled excellent times...

Also loved the other silver GTR (not keirs) .. he was pulling 11's... he was saying it was his first run out there...good stuff

Some of the grudge runs were good.. i was really impressed with whatsisnames car...Go you gun...

Well done to all those who raced I admire your dedication to the sport for competing in 40-50 degree heat..

Erica.

Yep - I agree. Well done to those of you 'crazy' enough to race in such shit conditions. I have raced before in 40+ heat & wont do it again - it just takes all the fun out of it.

I am really keen to get the race GTR going now & will hopefully have it ready to test by the wed 17th march test & tune night.

The other GTR is licking its wounds in the shed now, after making 480rwkw @ 2bar on the dyno on Friday, we did one more power pull & cracked the block!!! BA BOW..............

unfknblvbl.

Yep - he was very excited (he rang me twice!)

They ran a 8.6 then an 8.4.

I think they were going to crank more boost into it but the temp must have been to hot.

Last week he told me that the new engine made 1996hp (4 short of 2000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

When that car is fully sorted it will be even faster.

Mario is only in Australia for 12 days so I'm glad he got to see his car run.

Mario 8.4, Croydon 8.5, Reece 8.7, Keir 8.8, me 9.4, hmmm bit of catching up to do!

Thanks for the kind words Steve/Erica/guys :)

As I said on the day John, sorry to hear about the set back :D Head up mate you'll get it sorted.

You know the more I think about how hot it was, & running with a boost leak, the happier I am with how the car went. When's the next street meet?! :)

I probably should wait for Andy (Nightcrawler) to post his #'s, but I'm too impatient :) He had a best of 13.4 @ mid 100's TS. I think he had 2 or 3 13.4's actually. His clutch was stuggling.

Awesome numbers from GTR700! Getting well into Japanese territory. Bloody amazing power from a turbo 2.7L Is Mario using nitrous? I didn't think he was.

I did a total of 3 passes:

#1

Time - 10:23am

Temp - not recorded (but about 35 degrees)

60' - 1.977

ET - 13.407

MPH - 104.59

15psi bleed valve, clutch slipping like a bastard - was perfect off the line, but the top of 2nd, 3rd and 4th it slips like buggery

#2

Time - 10:34am

Temp - not recorded

60' - 1.974

ET - 13.459

MPH - 103.87

Same scenario as above

#3

Time - 7:21pm

Temp - 36.2'c

60' - 2.032

ET - 13.442

MPH - 107.24

Clutch slipped for the burnout so I didn't get to do one (motor revved, wheels wouldn't spin) - had some wheel spin on launch then far more slipping at the top of 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I dialled in 12.9 hoping to improve on the arvos times with slightly cooler weather and hopefully a better start, but didn't. Bowed out of the competition - beaten by .137 seconds by a bloody sigma (mind you a flat 12 second sigma - that the owner said has done high 10s before)

All in all a hot but enjoyable day. My times were shit, my clutch is screwed and I sucked in the comp, but was still fun!!

Yeh well done to everyone that competed. I was hoping to see more of SAU contingent, but after speakin to andrew, i heard what happened to johns gtr so knew he wasnt running. then both matt and andy bowed out :). Ohh well ur cars both looked sik on the nite :)

Anyway, hopefully by next street meet, my car is ready and i can take it there to get my first run.

Tim, bloody byatch, why didnt u come say hi. Matt, nice meetin u mate, ur car is phat and puts mine to shame :D

My highlight of the night, was when the commentator was on the mic, sayin "John Munro, can u please move ur ute, its blockin some of the cars". Hahah wd John, tryin to sabotage the other racing cos u cant go. Sorry about the streeter aswell mate.

Also wd to the car that ran 7.13 @180mph at dc. What an effort. Is that pac performance?

Yeah, the peckers. I paid to enter & was parked in the spot they had reserved for me.All they had to do was ring my mobile - they didnt need to make a big song & dance about it.

By then there was plenty of room elsewhere to park it & theo needed the light under the carport so I was happy to move it. After all that Theo put the S15 on the truck anyway!

It has been too hot to race for the last 3 years in a row at this event - maybe they should think about putting it on later in the year or something!

Hopefully next year will be more skylines - should of just called it the Rotary nationals this year.

..., we did one more power pull & cracked the block!!!  BA BOW..............

unfknblvbl.

WTF????

Really sorry to hear - any thoughts on the cause? did the block just give up the ghost?

480rwkw is pretty bloody impressive from a streeter, and pretty brave to run 2 bar on a high (for a turbo) CR engine.

once again sorry to hear. That car sounded soooo sweet.

the GT Autosound car ran a 11.4 i think at 142mph, and it still wosnt getting into 2nd perfectly, should run easy 10s once sorted, a wicked car and not a bad effort for its debut.

they only did the two runs, the first one he bogged it off the line, didn't go into 2nd perfectly and they didn't use the nos.

the second run they broke something during the run. they weren't to happy.
