Hi,

I'm having problems with my alarm. It doesn't register my key presses, mainly disarm. I have to press it many times before it will disarm. I've tried resetting it and reprogramming the remote. That hasn't helped. Using the valet switch to disarm it still works. Anyone on this forum in Victoria who can service these alarms? Getting very annoying when I have to stand at my car pressing the remote over and over again.

Hey. its a viper what else can I say. They are only useful as sinkers when you go fishing! Chuck it out and get e real car security product.

thats a bold comment, directed electronics make some of the best products on the market !!!! if you have the talent to wire them up right ?, failure rates are extremeley low which is why they have a lifetime warranty on most (not batteries ) parts , 99% of the time bad wiring job or remote thru a washing machine is the issue.

take it back to the place that installed it ??? they would sort it out quickly

first guess, no antenna connection or its been cut/taped on steel after someone worked on the car ,which = no range on remote, second, lost programming by fiddling around with a few things with the key on , is it a new remote??? changed the remote or car battery lately, remote battery is it in the right way?

a newer viper won't unlock if it see's mutiple alarms in close proximity being armed or disarmed. the upper models will vibrate or chirp the transmitter when that happens(anti code scanning protection)

sometimes the on off button gets mashed inside by you pushing on it too hard or crap in your pockets, if it can be unscrewed

have a look at it on the inside , the little pin behind the button , mushroomed ??? or missing ??

does it work by pushing the little rubber button with the case off? if so buy a new case or remote

if you have two remotes try the other one??

if not does it have any error code beeps or flashes ?

might be a scrambled brain if you jump started the car ? but if a DEI Authorized pro installed it ?? DEI will swap the brain no fuss most of the time

Sounds to me that there are alot of things that could go wrong with a Vyper...Not to mention the countless emails over the past decade for the same type of problems, but don't worry Brant Alarms are still winning in the category for most unreliable car alarm.

I got someone on this forum to install it. I've tried a second remote so it's not a remote issue. I just need someone who works on alarms to have a look at it for me.

change the batteries onthe two way unit and make sure its set to user 1 on the remote. that is 90% of the issues with those. the otehr 10% has to do with antenna placement and install.

    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
