hey all,

I was wondering if it's possible to fit a Jdm spec r s15 steering wheel into a r34 gtt?

Asking because I like the look of the s15 wheel as it has the carbon fibre look alike center piece and also has a factory airbag fitted (not interested in changing to a wheel without an airbag right now)

cheers

I've actually been looking into different Nissan model airbag steering wheels and as far as I am aware, most Nissan steering wheels will fit each other from R33 Series II onwards (dual airbags).

thanks for the reply phil,

correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I remember reading a thread where you said you were possibly looking into organising a group buy for the z-tune steering wheel? Would love to hear of prices, etc. for this if it is true. In the mean time, I think I'll ask my bro if I can borrow the wheel from his s15 to satisfy my curiosity as it will be out of action for a while due to fitment of a widebody.

Haha yeah you read correctly. Nismo no longer make them though so you can't get them anymore :)

It was from the same supplier in the US that I am doing the pedal group buy through, he has a Z tune steering wheel in his 350Z :D

damn that sucks :D oh well, if the s15 wheel fits I may just have to A) bribe my brother into handing his over, or B) source one out... thinking choice A will be more cost effective. Should look good with the v-spec ii pedals (btw, shoot me a PM when you require payment)

cheers

Yeah no worries, probably won't be for about 4 weeks though until I do the next batch.

Yeah i'm in the process of "modernising" my interior aswell hence the pedals were a nice touch :D

Been kind of thinking about the possibility of a "Flip/switchblade key" from the US to add to the theme..

What about the 350Z wheel.. Got any US hook ups Phil? I always wanted this wheel supposed to fit GTR so GTT will work.. But that was from Andru.. Wouldnt trust any of his posts. Anyway here's the thread on it..

350Z Steering Wheel

That 350Z Steering wheel is actually the Z tune steering wheel

It is made by Nismo for the Z tune and also available as an option for the 350Z. The main difference is on the Z tune it is red leather and alcantara in stead of the champagne leather.

This was the steering wheel I was trying to get from the US and the possibility of a group buy. However Nismo no longer make it :P

It definetely fits on, the only thing i couldn't 100% get was confirmation that the airbags would work. However from the research I did into airbags I beleive it would :D

There is also the MOMO option for the 350Z.

Damn... Looks like we enjoy the same type of porn then... I'd prefer the 350Z option instead of the red Z tune one.. oh well will have to keep an eye out for that next something..

Thread bump (but a good one)

Ok so after nearly 6 months of looking for a steering wheel replacement I have finally found what I want and I think you all will aswell :)

However.

Quick question to make this idea of mine to work.

The R34 steering wheel and the S15 steering wheel are nearly identical as seen below:

They bolt on the same way so therefore you can put a GTT steering wheel into a S15 and vice versa.

Now my question. Does any one know if the actual airbag itself (the centre piece as seen below) is the same on both wheels? So in other words, could one airbag fit the other?

Has any one got both steering wheels that they could play around with?

Once this has been answered I will show you my idea :D

EDIT: Think I may have answered the question myself. The S15 ADM steering wheel looks identical to the R34 steering wheel:

Nah I don't want the JDM steering wheel.

I have come across a company that does carbon fibre and leather steering wheels that are not on an exchage basis. Very similar to what is in Tango Matt's R34 GTR.

However the steering wheels come with no airbag. I just wanted to make sure that the R34 GTT airbag and the ADM S15 airbag were the same so you could use either.

This makes it easier for people like me to get an ADM S15 airbag for cheap or for people with an R34 GTR/GTT to just swap over their own.

Anyway I have emailed the company to see if they do any group buy discounts. If not I will just get one for myself to trial fit.

I don't have both but I just put in an S15 wheel literally 3 days ago and judging by the photo's the 2 seem identical.

It's not a company in Singapore is it? I've been in contact in the last few days with a company there..

Nah not Robson. I have talked to them about stuff before and while I know their quality is top notch, I simply can't afford the pricing they ask. Also they only do exchange. Therefore you send them the wheel, they modify it and then send it back.

Yeah pricing is quite up there with Robson. But their work is top notch so far enough I suppose.

These guys are in Japan and assure me they do them in Japan and not in China or Taiwan.

Here is a teaser :P

That's what Robson does, not these guys.

Basically it is a brand new R34/S15 steering wheel that they send you and you just have to put your airbag into it (S15 or R34). The photo above is the actual R34/S15 steering wheel redone in the carbon and leather.

Just waiting on a price back for a group buy.
