Easy and relatively cheap power to be had with the FPV, more so than with the holden. I'm very happy with my bf xr6t with the zf auto.

One thing though you're mentioning a 2 year old fpv and a new holden? Why not compare an FG xr6t/f6 as well?

How much is the new FPV though? I've found a few on carsales for $25,000-$35,000 of the BF FPV F6.

I know i can get the holden for close to 40k.

Only thing I can think off is that if you are going to get one with auto transmission then the Ford's ZF 6 speed auto box has the advantage over the Holden's 6 speed auto box, from what I have read at least...

What are the advantages?

What are the advantages?

Just from the various sources I read they all tend to suggest the Ford's ZF is a smoother auto box & is slightly more responsive in semi-auto mode compared to Holden's one.

No personal experience since I've never driven neither car... only Holden I had was my mum's old VN with the tractor 4 speed auto box, where every gear change is a huge "thump" :ermm:

I'm a Holden bloke so obviously I went with the SSV didnt even bother looking at the Ford range of utes. The torque of the 6.0L V8 is so incredibly effortless, even at 160kmh it doesnt sound like the engine is doing more than 80kmh they are just so smooth and quiet, way better engine than the worked RB26 of my last GTR which you had to wring its neck with rpm to get it to perform. But then this engine is brand new, not 20yrs old like my last engine and also more than double the capacity.

As for getting a Ford over a Holden because the Ford can take 1 ton in the tray, yeah good luck. The back would be so low to the ground you'd never get out of your driveway not to mention how dangerous it would be to drive. Most tradies wouldn't have more than 200-300kg in the back anyway.

Fantastic looking ute mate, what is the soft tornau like? i don't understand how they work over the old ford ones where you have the clips on the outside? super neat car.

That is the factory soft tonneau cover. Along the top of the ute body their is a groove and on the edge of the cover their is a plastic clip and u just push it over and it locks into position the whole way around.

is it good when stuff is hanging out though?

You can get an FG xr6t for similar price to the holden, ive never driven the FG but they reckon the smaller turbo on the FG makes them super responsive and factory or light mods BF vs FG xr6t the FG is faster.

I think you'll be happy with either but if you are going the ford path maybe consider an FG as well.

i meant an xr6 turbo not the f6. I think the xr6 turbo will be in your price range and used with 12-18 months on them they are low 30s.

Morning,

I checked out a 50th Anniversary one on saturday, pretty good bang for your buck. special wheels and everything.

I'd probably go for the F6, they sound mean and with little modding go like a rocket.

ben do you have a hardcover for ya ute? just don't understand how people can pay so much for a ute and have a tarp on the back, ruins everything imo...

No hard cover for me, trust me the amount of times i've carried things like tables, chairs, fuel containers etc that sit higher than the sides i'd be forever removing/reinstalling the hard cover every second weekend.

Wait till you own one and actually want to use your tray, they suck! I love the ford clips on the outside they are so practical and easy to use. Have used them in so many different ways, I guess it depends on whether you are buying a ute to use or just to look pretty :(
