Can I ask why you are selling?

A quick search shows that you put a deposit on this car only 4 months ago, and it was seen getting a respray recently.

A quick search will also tell you that I was never happy with the quality of the Nissan paint and was debating from day one if I was going to wrap it in Matte Black or get it resprayed in a better quality job than Nissan.

If you are implying that the car was involved in an accident and required it to be re-sprayed then you are just trying to stir up trouble and are dead wrong. I spent $1000 on a professional polish on the car and was still not happy with the job so while I went overseas for 3 weeks I had it over at file finish getting a re-spray so when I got back it would be BETTER than new.

I belong to numerous forums and there are alot of people out there that know the vehicle and myself personally and I take offense to what you are insinuating with your question. Once the car is sold I think it will become clear why I sold it.

ah do you have pics? I guess mainly because the colour is now....??

It's still black. It's just a better quality paint job. Why Nissan decided to put the same quality paint as a Nissan Micra on a $180K car is beyond me.

My question was "Can I ask why you are selling?", I do not see why you "take offense at what you are insinuating with your question".

Prospective purchases, like myself, are going to ask questions, especially when they see a car being sold after only four months of ownership and when they see a full respray on a young car.

Getting defensive just turns people away.

If you are not interested and capable of purchasing this vehicle, then do not post in the thread.

Send the OP a PM if you want general tyre kicking info.

Warnings will be handed out in future.

Dan, I don't have 10 posts yet so I can't PM.

The Classified Rules here on SAU, http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Cl...ead-t69225.html, include:

"8. Your for sale thread must include a valid contact number, name and email address."

If g35me had included this information I would have emailed him.

in the R35 section I would think that he would be perfectly justified asking the question, if I was him, after the response he got, I would be thinking twice about this car, but even if it enables him to make a decision about buying an R35 (if it was being sold due a problem which he was not willing to put up with).

P.S., whatever, warn me, I am sticking up for the little fella, just like ACA

I guess I will have to set the record straight. The car has not been resprayed due to a accident or anything like that. As we all know Black paint is one of, if not the hardest colors to keep from scratching. The joke is that if you look at black paint the wrong way it will scratch. Now I am not talking about paint removing scratching but more the fine spider web imperfections that you can see swirled across a black car in certain lights. That is what my car had, to almost everyone else they wondered what I was talking about as the car looked great in most light conditions but I always knew it was there.

I have been told that the original black R35 GTR paint is approx half the thinkness of BMW paint (Using a paint meter) my car also had the standard amount of stone chips associated 20,000K's of driving a GTR. The semi slick tyres spray up alot of stones onto the quarter in front of the rear tyre, the factory clear bra is not even remotely large enough to stop the chipping in the paint. If the original paint was thicker it would have a better impact resistance.

All i have done is improve on the original Nissan paint by putting further color layers and further clear coats in the hope of making it more scratch resistant. Just like when you buy a new car and they ask if you want further paint protection at an extra cost.

The GTR black is not much good and neither is the white from what I have read. I had no intention of selling the car hence why I did the mods and was willing to spend money on improving the paint work. My original thought process was to get the car wrapped in Matte Black which is what I always wanted but I thought that if I ever get sick of the wrap or something went wrong with the wrap over time and I wanted to pull it off I would be back at square one again.

It also took me 2 months to find someone that I was comfortable in doing the work on the car. I finally went with File Finish after being recommended to them by another Black R35 GTR owner as they do mostly exotic car work. i.e Bentley, Lambo, Ferrari and have the contract with Aston Martin in Melbourne to do all their painting.

However, things change and as some of you know I am partial to Audi's (I own an A5 coupe as well) and a nice V10 R8 has presented itself for sale and my thoughts were that if I had a few bites on the GTR and it sold it would leave me in a position to by the R8. I am not financially able to buy the Audi without selling the GTR. That is the reason for the sale not because there is something wrong with the car. I didn't feel that I needed to justify the sale of the vehicle hence why I never gave a reason for the sale.

More posts removed.

Dan has already made it quite clear, either follow the advice, or warnings will be handed out.

DO NOT POST UNLESS YOU ARE INTERESTED.

Posting a page of dribble and then "bump for a nice car" will not get you off.

If you are not interested and capable of purchasing this vehicle, then do not post in the thread.

Send the OP a PM if you want general tyre kicking info.

Warnings will be handed out in future.

    • How do you go about diagnosing ecu's that don't have data logging, is it more experience at that point and just trying out things that you think will fix the issue?
    • Stock O2 are basically useless beyond anything at stoich. Any misfire will also be seen as lean. The stock O2 also read a collective exhaust gas volume, not each cylinder. Sputtering and missing means not each cycle is firing, and some are. Which means even if rich, as shit, on cylinders as they miss, they'll read lean, but the cylinders that did fire will read rich, and combined, well, they can read anything from rich to lean.   Start with the basics before even going looking at sensor values.   Edit: I say the above, and that's coming from the guy with a few thousand dollars worth of scan tools sitting right beside me right now that I use frequently for my job.

    • I’ve heard it can be done, you need to redrill the holes where they bolt to the chassis and apart from that they are the same. I’ve never done it or know anyone personally that has, it’s just something I’ve heard
    • If it's reading full rich prior to a misfire that gives one directional hint, if it's already reading lean, etc. If it's reading pretty cleanly stoichiometric then suddenly drops out from a misfire that suggests it's not air mass estimation that's the problem. Could be ignition, could be something more subtle. Could be the CAS has decided to start dropping out at random or the drive pin is worn leading to excessive lash and trigger errors. LTFT can tell you the same but it's slower to react and if this is a recent issue it might not have stabilized. STFT stuck in one direction vs fluctuating back and forth can be used instead but I like to read O2 voltages anyways and interpret directly. If the O2 voltages make no sense in general or are super slow to react it could also be a failing O2 sensor. There's no real error correction for failing O2 sensors in these cars.
