R34 Australian Standard Immobiliser

Recently bought a 99 R34 GTR V Spec and i want to make sure everything's in order in relation to my comprehensive insurance. I spoke to Just Car today about the immobiliser, and they told me that the car probably did have a compliant immobiliser from the factory.

Wanted to check with anyone else out there if they knew their R34 factory immobiliser complies with the Australian Standard.

The following was noted by govich (don't know what this PIN business is about):

All Australian Standards approved immobiliser systems include:

- Automatic immobilisation within 40 seconds of ignition switch-off

- Two independent points of immobilisation

- Connections enclosed in security housing

- All black security wiring

- Flashing dashboard LED when system is armed

- Secure owner PIN override.

No they dont from factory, mine has a factory one but it wasn't Aussie insurance approved.

with that car you don't want a really good alarm. not some factory rubbish . I won't devulge what is in mine.... besides the factory one but lets just say LOTS !!!!

Yes,Ii just wanted some peace of mind that the car won't get denied coverage in its current state (i.e. before I get the Immobiliser/Alarm installed)

depends. most will insure it but the theft excess will not go away without an alarm.

being aVspec it will have NATS 2.8 on it but thats not compliant with anything.
