Hi everyone,

we did a little scientific experiment earlier involving a carrot.....and my car :)

Below is a post Brenton put on the FTO forum with the results...

This is straight off the FTO forum

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure if it counts as work............

Found out that if you wanted to stick your hand in a closing sunroof dont stick it in a bmw 318i and if you want to stick your finger in a closing window you can stick it in a nissan Big Ugly Soap Box Racer or a mitsubishi FTO but probably better to stick your thumb in a bmw 318i.

Used a carrot

Window: best window was in the FTO and hardly put a mark in the carrot(probably why mine and others windows goe up then down sometimes in the cold and you cant use the auto up till it gets over a quarter of the way up) Big Ugly Soap Box Racer =2nd bmw =3rd

Sunroof: fto was good and retracted as the window did, when it detected pressure(window and sunroof might have enough power to snap a mars bar in half) Bmw smashed a carrot in half and didnt even slow down.

Nevertheless- prob not a good idea to test this out with any of your apendages that you actually want to keep, especially not on a 318i

hahaha

where the idea started was I read somewhere recently about someone chopping there finger off in a electric window and some crappy scary movie portrayed someone being cut in half by an electric sunroof and being that I'm a nurse I wanted to know what it'd do.

Big Ugly Soap Box Racer is an FTO forum auto change for the word 'Skyline'

No fingers were chopped off Blags, I used a thin carrot that was roughly the same thickness as a mans finger.

I used a carrot because it's about as hard as a finger, same thickness and is circular.

Ryan- Yeah, it's not something to be proud of, but what I was saying is if there is something in the water, then it's St Albans water not Bendigo water.

Kris- I actually thought you guys might find it interesting. Lots of people find shows like Myth Busters enjoyable, and thought you guys might find it interesting that Japanese safety standards are obviously higher than those of Euro cars....which have a reputation of high safety levels

Anyways if you don't like it, get over it and click on the next thread
