ok been to eastern creek 2 times now with my gtr , 316rwkw @ 16psi from a to4z (stock head :) so very lagy)

this is my times so far all on falken 235 / 40 /18

12.512 @ 112.77 mph with a 1.789 60 footer

and

12.394 @ 112.84 mph with a 1.842 60 footer

and last time i went down my best time was

12.302 @ 114.47 mph with a 1.849 60 footer

ok my question is can i get faster with my current setup?(with out going to other tyres)

times are close to where you would expect them with your current power and sixty foot times.

tyres will improve your sixty foot time, and run if your currently getting wheel spin.

i ran 11.36 on stock turbos, stock head, 290rwkw, 265 35 18 tyres and 1.7-1.8 60fts we talked atthe track the other night and i said then you should put on some cam gears and get them dialed in it will help reduce your lag and setting them up don't worry so much about hp as it means very little aim more for as much low end torque as you can get for you current set up, your 60 fts are ok with the tyres your running you need to get more mph

125mph ??? thats 500+ rwhp trap speed..... were you able to repeat it (not necissarily the 11.36, but moreso the 125mph) ?

wayyy back in 2002 I ran 11.13 @ 128.5 (1.82 60ft) on a stock bottom end with Apexi low mounts and other little odds and sods.

315RWKW.

New owner in Tassie re-tuned it and went 10.80 at similar mph.

Maybe they were really really big killer Wasps?

I think the MPH is below what it should be with a genuine 316kw. I've run over 112mph with only 250kw and ran low 12s about 5 years ago with stock engine and stock turbos @1bar.

60ft is not bad, but the fact that you're only running 112/114 mph means you are down on power. to get into the 11s your going to need a fantastic run or more power. either that or the power deliver is really bad. but with 316kw you should have higher TS than 112mph...

the car is booked in to get cam gears and surge system so i can actually run more boost.

XKLABA did u happen to get what the std cam's are meant to be dialed in at yet?

and as for lag , i don't get full boost till about 5000 too 5500rpm so yer it is fairly lagy :)

I have a genuine 500rwhp (closer to 540 actually, but lets say 500) and I did an 11.5 @ 126mph. Spose the 32GTR's weigh a bit less. Those online calculator thingies tend to agree with me though:

Meh, you have the slip that says you did it. Kudo's to you. Maybe you guys are all skinny bastards and are better at stripping your cars out than me :)

I've never truly believed those online calculators. Rarely are they totally accurate.

A lot of things like diff gearing, how many gears you are changing and so on all have effects in various ways, even rim size.

I also know of two friends in stock turbo R32 GTR's that have run 11.5 and 11.7 respectively - no idea of MPH - They surely cannot have any more than 270rwkw either way.

The 11.5 was driven without one iota of mechanical sympathy (flat changed etc). 11.7 was a bit more forgiving.

Just for info sake - with ~210rwkw I was regularly running 110-112mph (2.0 60ft/RWD) @ Calder in my HR31 back when i raced regularly.

Car was just over 1400kg without me in it and under half a tank of gas. So would have been 1500kg on race day (roughly, car was never stripped)

I still think the low mph is telling us it's down on power. 316kw should give a fair whack more than 112mph.

btw most GTRs with fuel and driver will be much heavier than 1475kg. regardless of 32/33/34 none of them will be under 1500kg with fuel and average driver unless they have had some weight reduction done.

Yep, the 60' times are usual for street tyres, but as mentioned above, its the trap speed that is down. You may well have 316rwkw, however, that isn't being reflected in the trap speed, and this is were the issue is. better rubber might get you an ET in the high 11's, but the MPH doesn't lie.

yea sounds like more like 250 killer wasps#

even with 3k rpm you should be charging hard to4z styles

    • I think you're really missing the point. The spec is just the minimum spec that the fuel has to meet. The additive packages can, and do, go above that minimum if the fuel brand feels they need/want to. And so you get BP Ultimate or Shell Ultra (or whatever they call it) making promises to clean your engine better than the standard stuff....simply because they do actually put better additive packages in there. They do not waste special sauce on the plebian fuel if they can avoid it. I didn't say "energy density". I just said "density". That's right, the specific gravity (if you want to use a really shit old imperial description for mass per unit volume). The density being higher indicates a number of things, from reduces oxygen content, to increased numbers of double bonds or cyclic components. That then just happens to flow on to the calorific value on a volume basis being correspondingly higher. The calorific value on a mass basis barely changes, because almost all hydrocarbon materials have a very similar CV per kg. But whatever - the end result is that you do get a bit more energy per litre, which helps to offset some of the sting of the massive price bump over 91. I can go you one better than "I used to work at a fuel station". I had uni lecturers who worked at the Pt Stanvac refinery (at the time they were lecturing, as industry specialist lecturers) who were quite candid about the business. And granted, that was 30+ years ago, and you might note that I have stated above that I think the industry has since collected together near the bottom (quite like ISPs, when you think about it). Oh, did I mention that I am quite literally a combustion engineer? I'm designing (well, actually, trying to avoid designing and trying to make the junior engineer do it) a heavy fuel oil firing system for a cement plant in fricking Iraq, this week. Last week it was natural gas fired this-that. The week before it was LPG fired anode furnaces for a copper smelter (well, the burners for them, not the actual furnaces, which are just big dumb steel). I'm kinda all over fuels.
    • Well my freshly rebuilt RB25DET Neo went bang 1000kms in, completely fried big end bearing in cylinder 1 so bad my engine seized. No knocking or oil pressure issue prior to this happening, all happened within less than a second. Had Nitto oil pump, 8L baffled sump, head drain, oil restrictors, the lot put in to prevent me spinning a bearing like i did to need the rebuild. Mechanic that looked after the works has no idea what caused it. Reckoned it may have been bearing clearance wrong in cylinder 1 we have no idea. Machinist who did the work reckoned it was something on the mechanic. Anyway thats between them, i had no part in it, just paid the money Curiosity question, does the oil system on RB’s go sump > oil pump > filter > around engine? If so, if you had a leak on an oil filter relocation plate, say sump > oil pump > filter > LEAK > around engine would this cause a low oil pressure reading if the sensors was before the filter?   TIA
    • But I think you missed mine.. there is also nothing about the 98 spec that supports your claim..  according to the fuel standards, it can be identical to 95, just very slightly higher octane number. But the ulp vs pulp fuel regulations go show 95 (or 98), is not just 91 with some additives. any claim of ‘refined by the better refineries’ or ‘higher quality fuel’ is just hearsay.  I have never seen anything to back up such claims other than ‘my mate used to work for a fuel station’, or ‘drove a fuel delivery truck’, or ‘my mechanic says’.. the actual energy densities do slightly vary between the 3 grades of fuel, but the difference is very minor. That said, I am very happy to be proven wrong if anyone has some hard evidence..
