interesting fact

the rb25 afm standard has 2 layers of mesh on it, one on the inlet side and one on the outlet side

the q45 afm only has mesh on the inlet side (remember mine is brand new, yay for a good deal)

so obviously the second mesh isnt doing much, and can be done away with

OK getting technical now but could that have something to do with air reversion through the rb25 afm due to forced induction?

Or should I just go have a nap?

well someone once told me it was there to smooth out the flow of the air being sucked into the engine, but the way i can see it was only one screen of mesh was needed to do that, the second one served no real purpose

and there shouldnt be air coming back outta your turbo if your blow off valve is in working order

well i did notice it was more powerful but as i said at the same time i did my afm mesh i put a pod filter on too, so yer,

i cant see it making the car slower, and my turbines fins are in perfect condition so it obviously didnt cause any damage to the turbo so i guess its worth doing

mabey you should try it and see if it does infact make a difference or not
