I have been in the same situation, I built my r32 gtst up to 300rwkw with all the good bits ect,it was never as good as i felt it should have been. I then sold it and bought a gtr, straight away the GTR was exactly as i wanted and I wished i had done it years ago rather than pouring all that time and money into the GTST

Dave!

I wouldn't ditch the current susp. Set up, I'd speak with heasmans. They can convert your set up to a coilover set up. I was quoted a while back at around 2.5k from memory but of course could be more now, so I wouldn't get like g4 or d2 coilovers just resleeve or whatever it is they do!

Get some good semis ad discussed!

So yeah, it's tough mate!

Go take a 33 Gtr for a spin!!

i agree i had a series 1 gtst i built it up from stock to 400hp atw and selling it and getting a gtr was the best thing i did but now i have to sell my gtr to get a house lol

A very nice NSW member has already been in contact with me and offered me a drive in his 33GTR snd I will take him up on it, I won't name him, Ill let him say something if he choses to but he knows I'm very gratefull for the opportunity.

And yeh thanks Chubbs I'll have a chat with Heasmans, I'm out that way in a couple of weeks

A very good move mate, I was fortunate enough to buy a house just before I bought my GTST. If I didn't have the house as security this thread would never have been started and I probably wouldn't evenhave a skyline

I don't believe any GTRs are going up. Perhaps some limited editions. My best guess is if you drive the GTS for a few more years (1-3) the R33 GTRs would have depreciated towards "easy money". Right now r32 GTRs with a "few problems" are in the teens. I think this is the R33 future. ( a guess). Perhaps you could stow away some premium RB 26 up grade bits away in the mean time when they come up.

Just to throw another theory in there, Ina few years the 34gtr will be around 30-40k and I would buy one of them in an instant.

35's will prob be around 70?????????

Deprieciation sucks but it's just the way it goes. I paid $34,000 for my S2 in 2000. And back then I was told by a few workshops it was a steel. I would need my head read if I paid that for a 33 nowadays

i personally regret selling my gtst for a GTR...

i had mine for almost 3 years... was my first skyline so i spent hours and hours on here doing my homework

got it up to 290rwkw and sold it due to it getting me into too much cop trouble....

'upgraded' to a GTR and its just not the same... i dont like it lol (so its up for sale)

if u sell something you put 10 years of TLC into, you may end up really regretting it

i say do the rebuild... built 25 with a 3076 on E85 will be awesome fun in a RWD car...

btw is it me or can ppl really feel the additional weight of the GTR during daily driving

You've poured so much into this gorgeous R33, it'd be hard to let it go Dave. So, ^^^ I'm glad you came up with a Plan B.

You've got a great understanding wife.

I'd bide my time, wait for a nice R34 GT-R (or R33 GT-R), and use your existing R33 dedicated for the track.

Just need an extended garage and a few lovely presents for the wife before a big purchase!

Thanks Terry, dunno wether she really is understanding or she just tolerates it so I don't sit around the house sulking....haha

Nah all jokes aside ever since we met she knows I love cars and enjoy the "tinkering" as she puts it. So as long as my daughter, my wife and the house come first and they never have to go without because of a silly car part she's cool with it.

That's why I kept her!

That's a beautiful gtst mate, I have to say, I'm glad I don't have the difficult choice you have (and a little jealous :().

Personally, I'd hate to have a car which I poured my heart and soul into, and buy something which feels worse all round.

Just wondering though, why has almost everyone been against upgrading to an rb30 bottom end? Is it because twin scroll turbos are cheaper or because of the cost of a 30 conversion or what? That might be a factor in the decision.... ??

Because the 25 motor is a great motor.

The RB30 has some benefits, but there are also some drawbacks.

When converting, you need to take into account, a few extra costs, such as changes to engine mounts, intercooler piping etc.

You will pour so much money into a GTR as heaps of others on these forums have

But you know what? After all the money, effort, time, frustration etc, they just feel SO damn good when you're hard up a quick one

If you were keen for a ride in an r32 id offer

Dave, I'd be taking people up on offers to take one for a drive.

I've driven two R33 GTRs recently, not in 100% full anger, as I drove one of them on the street, and I love my licence too much, the other was Eric's at the skid pan, and I just didn't want to break such a beautiful car, but I still gave it a bit. The big thing I noticed is how different they are to drive to a GTSt. As much as we all say "They're RWD until you break them loose!" I still think they drive and steer differently. Very hard to explain.

I will be taking a drive in some GTR's Matt, Ive has one offer yesterday and I will take him up on it. Funny thing is he has never driven a GTST so it will be something different for both of us.

I have driven a bog standard 33gtr a looooong time ago it is was a bit, meh' but it was in town so no real room to wind out a gear or anything.

And Steveo I would looooooooove to go for a ride in your car mate, Yavuz and Tyson have told me a little about it, sound pretty epic!

I'll bring fresh undies!

Been there done that.....well without the supercharger Zebra.

My last car before the skyline was a built stroked 350 chev with a NASCAR spec 010 4 bolt block 500hp in a HZ statesman, WHAT A CAR! Went like nothing else in a straight line........................when you wanted to turn or stop that was a very different story!!!!!!

I do miss it though, I'll see if I can find a couple of old pics and scan them

From what your posting now Dave..keep the 33 :D

you miss the HZ!

rebuild 33.,...well, dont rebuild it until you need to!

in mean time upgrade other stuff :P

Yeah Chubbs I do miss the HZ, a big angry tank of thing it was. I'll always be a bogan at heart!

Well I think I've made a decision.......GR33DD stays and I'll clean it up. I ordered a GTR brake upgrade kit from UAS and was talking to TO4GTR and he reckons the same as most of you guys are saying keep the 25 unopened and get the turbo side of things sorted. He suggested the 3076 ex gate 6boost mani with twin scroll setup .82 rear. He said the power delivery with the proper setup will be very linear and I "should" be able to have full boost at 3500 but it will start to come on at around 2500 and it willnot feel laggy.

I've also a trader on here to get a price for a 2835pro s kit and I'll see which one will work out the better option.

I'll get a plazmaman plenum as well more for the ease of servicing rather than the tiny bit of extra power it would give me.

If you guys have any other suggestions regarding turbo choice I'm open to opinions.

Thank for all the help guys.

Looks like a build thread is comming

you've made the right choice. i dont think id ever buy a full-time 4WD import because you are limited by what you can do with it, unless its the daily then it doesnt matter.

im still tossing up on whether to sell my car and "upgrade" to something newer or not, problem is there is nothing else in the same class that is much better than what i've got with all of its current mods and spare parts/engines i have.

my thoughts are;

GTR - cant drift/overly expensive if its only street driven (keep in mind this will be my daily).

S15 - pretty much the same.

Supra - skyline's fat ugly cousin.

EVO/STI - limited by displacement/internal strength of the motor.

damn cars.
