Haven't got my M35 Axis Autech yet, but i'm already thinking of what to mod on it.

Without knowing what may/may not require modification here's what I think so far (discuss!)

Must haves:

Get the english conversion on the 'TV screen'

Full service (fluids etc.)

Nice to haves:

HDI FMIC

Full exhaust

High flowed turbo

Open up the intake by removing the factory intake and making a custom version

ECU re-flash

i dont think full exhaust is a nice to have .. virtually an essential (well the dump anyway others will agree) if you want your turbo to last to even 100,000kms.

take a look at the dump thread.. stock dump to me is quite dangerous for stock turbos and engines its so restrictive.

but youve got the right idea tho with other mods!

ECU remap is impossible at this stage. i can however comment that an aftermarket one found on the yahoo auctions would be completely beneficial.

the intake is perfectly fine, its the inlet tract to the turbo that is the problem. the airbox flows well, no real point in changing it

I'm in the same boat. Question - if I get the custom dump pipe installed, I take it I cannot get a turbo back exhaust installed?

If so, is it worth going dump + cat back or just go turbo back?

Also, does branding matter much for exhaust? can anyone recommend a joint in SE Melbourne for this stuff? I live in Moorabbin and there's alot of auto shops in the area but no idea if they're any good (or know much about the M35)

1. Sway Bars

Why . . . drive around a corner at some speed. . .then you will know why. .

glad someone mentioned this.. even after hardening up my suspension im still getting too much body roll.

hard to find source it seems? you got any front and rear ?

Is anyone sourcing these , making these ? would like to find out

..dont see them often on import monster or i havent yet anyway for m35's :S

do we have one on the rear stock?

(havent even noticed really)

goes like this

turbo / stock dump with cat inside /2 inch + pipe middle muffler /2inch pipe + rear muffler

what you want though is

turbo / bigger dump 3inch right through to/ 3inch high flow cat /3inch pipe to high flow resonators /3 inch pipe - quality rear muffler ( fujitsubo legalis -R , S , HKS etc)

problem is though.. you cant just stick on a custom dump without removing stock cat..and having a fairly disjoined setup. (ie a stock middle muffler with no cat and issues changing that fitting later if made to suit that sized piping)

Your best off getting one thats been done.. check importmonster theres a long dump on there now suited to a fujitsubo for around $400.

then perhaps either a totally custom zorst with its own resonator and end muffler or a made one like a fujitsubo not sure if it includes highflow cat though but it looks to all bolt up to the stock turbo. a few peoples have these exhausts here.. if someone could verify!

OK, so in short - custom dump means u need a whole new customer zorst setup. Or I could just get a whole new premade setup...LOL

How much is that? 1k? 2k?

How long is a piece of string?

Expect to spend at least $1500 from turbo to exhaust tip. My current system (Group buy dump, custom mid pipe, hi flow cat, Fujitsubo Legalis rear exhaust) stands at around $2000. I did it in sections, to soften the blow, and my Legalis was an ebay bargain.

Ah ok so it is possible to do it bit by bit...hmmm

So say I started with the custom dump...which other part will need to be replaced at the same time? the mid pipe and cat?

However you want to do it. You probably have multiple compliance cats to pass the emissions test. I would change the dump and front pipe first, with a highflow cat installed. The rear section can be imported or a custom muffler fitted later.

I'm local if you want a dump fabricated and fitted, or a whole stainless system... :(

I was going to leave the factory airbox in the engine bay, as I know they have nothing wrong with the amount of flow they can handle.

Sway bars is a good one for sure.

Exhaust is a tricky one. I want something quiet and preferably legal or close to in terms of CAT location.

Is it possible (without having a Stagea in front of me - damn it, to put the CAT in the dump or close to?

anything is possible.......but part of the reasoning behind doing the new dump is to move the cat away to give your turbo a bit of longevity. The standard dump is probably on about 400mm long and includes the cat. The aftermarket ones are the same length without it therefore moving a lot of the heat away from the turbo.....IMO it is better to have the cat about 1 meter at least away from the dump.

that's if you run a cat

i'll vouch for that , scott makes a quality dump!, the one he supplied me is fantastic. (that he fabricated himself).

heh by the sounds of things you run a fake cat mr jetwreck :P

what about brake pads??

Some guys are running QFM HPX pads (road oriented), and QFM AR1M's (track oriented), GSL Rallysport on the SAU forum stock these, and do deals for members. Give them a try.
