GTS-t VSPEC
This is what is written in the Horsepower In a Box website on the turbo bags: As these Blankets are designed to retain heat within the turbo, it may be benificial that the blanket be removed for vehicle "Garaging" as retaining the heat without the water/oil circulation may cause long term reduced life for the turbo (this is particularly relevant when used with non-water cooled plain bearing units). Although there is no documented analysis to support this theory... (we don't beleive this to be the case based on our testing and analysis) I personally don't see how the turbo would warp, they're designed to run at high temperatures, and if anything the slower cool down would be of benefit. In any racing application I'd be doing cool down laps, and then leave the engine running to keep oil and water to circulate for quite a qhile. Roy
I dont think they warp as such, but the machined faces that seal on the manifold etc can usually do with a skim after years of life as after uber heat cycles some have trouble sealing against gasket faces. So a metal rule on the face of the turbo flange will give you an idea of how many cycles the thing has had and whether the faces is still true. My current TD06 8cm housing was machined when it was last removed because it had 'bowed' (for want of a better term) a little Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/343590-turbo-bag-on-a-race-car/page/2/#findComment-5544285 Share on other sites
