Hi,

Im after a 3" cat converter for a r34 gt-t.

There are 2 to choose from - 5.9 ltr? or the 7.5 ltrs that suits high hp cars.

Which one would be better for the r34?

Thanks

Brendan.

my opinion is that the 5.9 ltr would suit the R34 GT-V and GT-t, and if the R34 GT-t or GT-V is high performance then go the 7.5 ltr on it.

Its not always the case of bigger the better in cats the cat may be a bigger litre one but if it flows shit then thier is no point for a genuine high flow cat u pay upwards of $400-450 for one that is a true high flow. Most of the other ones flow better but not best and sometimes not better than stock thoe thier size is bigger. Look for around the $250-300 mark for something average...My 2 Cents. Rob

Also the cat is the main blockage in a system. So it is worth spending abit of money on if you have it, just go for something average which should help abit and for track work or if your keen on the streets take it out and replace it with a pipe :P thoe this is illegal to remove the cat for street use i know alot of people that have it out and have not had a fine of any sort (EPA States fines upto $10,000) but i know a person that got epa's through a breath testing station without a cat and they didnt notice it at all. So if you really need the power just take the cat out...depends how keen you are. My 2 Cents. Rob

a cat with the guts riped out is the go, get the cheapest one and do that. then if ya get pulled over they can see it and you dont get done. if you get done for somthing ealse then put a cheap cat on to get over the pits as they mite tap to see if holow. very easy to change over, and their are very good gains to be had with a high flowing exhast. i dont want to be be a bad influance but this is what a large amount of people do :P

Tried to get my new exhaust fitted today, its a Veilside 3.5" system with no cat, just the front pipes, two small resonaters then muffler, but the exhaust shop wouldnt go for it, doh!

Theyre reasoning was it would belch flames out the back (they wernt concerned about epa) but they wouldnt listen to me when I said it already belches flames out the back

I couldnt find the old gaskets that came with the exhaust, and no-where had anything a similar size. The exhaust shop in question wont sell me the gaskets either because they know ill just run off and put it on myself  But I think I might have sourced some a similar size, and if so, its off to deans on the weekend :)

you shoudl be able to source the gaskets from any shop (as long as they carry that size) - just tell them you took the exhaust off for 'x' reason and stuffed/lost the gasket if they ask!
