Bob, id love to hear more about why the ADM is different to drive. Is it that it has lower kms or does the JDM one have mods? I would have thought that the driving experience would be the same as most changes were purely cosmetic or to meet the ADRs.

It is really due to low kms as I've had a reasonable condition JDM and a very tidy JDM. Combination of a well maintained car which is tight in every way (i.e. driveline, bushes, gearbox etc).

It is also psychological I believe...for example, an A9X will always feel more nostalgic than a replica :)

The difference is mainly due to the JDM having a heavy duty Exedy clutch and all the consequenceses than come from that. The drive train is noisy by comparisonsn. The trust bearing although new (supposedly anyway) is very noisy and it has 30 mm heavy duty firmer lowered springs. Add that into the equation and it just doesn't have the smoothness and driving ease the ADM has.

Interior wise, the ADM is mint.

It had the dealer fitted lambswool seat covers on it since day one so when I removed them, the seats were new.

They even have that new car smell. The JDM's interior has been restored so there is no comparison.

I will find out tomorrow whether my mate is going to buy the JDM. Bit of a saga since mid February but unless he confirms he will take it, I'll keep it and put a new stock clutch and thrust bearing in it. I also have the original springs which I may refit too.

You are right though, they should be the same and hopefully if I keep it they eventually will be.

Here are some interior pics to give you an idea.......

Cheers,

Bob.

Correct...... Well maintained low mileage car drives exactly as the factory intended it to.

Another ADM has just popped up....... I've seen this car, it's supurb!

A bit over half of its new price; and so it should be. :)

Can anyone explain why there are not many silver ADM's?

Obviously the above list is only as accurate as what we know, however, I find it very interesting as one would expect that Nissan Australia would import the 3 available colours in equal numbers?

Is there any intelligence on how many ADM's were complianced, how many of these were sold and what happened to the remaining cars that weren't sold?

I am sure there is no answer on my above Q's...just putting it out there

Red pearl metallic number 6 and 33 is the same car and is 96 - 100 and number 31 is 87 - 100

Thanks for pointing this out Robert - now updated with the above build no's & also consolidated no.6 with no.33...

Nice score on the taillights bob. I have always worried about those and the rear number plate surround.

Well I have al my stock parts but couldn't help but have ecu boost and exhaust. you end up with around 50- 70 kw at the wheels and its a lot more fun in thrid gear up a hill.

All though I have nismo fuel pump and -5's to go on. You wouldn't even know there on once the heat sheilds. But thats just my taste.

Rohin

i may have spotte another silver ADM but it is very hard tell from the below link:

http://www.fullboost.com.au/story.php?secId=401&storyId=609&page=1&start=1&year=2005&go=1

the car plated RH9 is already in our list, however, the car behind it with alloy wheels look to be an ADM, unless it is only carrying ADM tail lights as i cannot see side indicators, roof aerial & cannot workout if it has an ADM rear plate holder...

Sorry Marko,

Meant -9's. Originally bought -5's but then swapped them for -9's as they are meant to be more responsive.

-9s are good for 330kw.

If u wanted even better response u could have gone -7s but will be limited to 300kw.

Pm sent :)

  • 2 weeks later...

When speaking with the owner a few weeks back he mentioned a very keen and cashed up interest coming from W.A.

Although honestly I don't know for sure what has eventuated since then.

    • The MX5 has had some annoying rattles in both front doors over bumps So I installed fancy pants door bushings, which stopped all of the rattles with the windows up, but........with the windows down there was still rattles, so after some googling,  and a chat with MX5 Mania, I got some new door to glass weather seals, all the rattles, windows up, or down, are gone now Shout out to MX5 Mania, the weather seals were on sale, and when I head to Dural to pick the up they even fitted them for me for free I did see a "really" nice Blue NA sitting out front   and this Black NC PRHT that looked like it has sat in the sun for its whole life and never had a wash, the clear coat was non-existent, an it looked horrible, really horrible, but, it had a nice turbo kit with over 200kw, the thing went like a cut snake, bagging the rears through the gears and dosing like a champ 😍 But, as I've always stated, I am keeping my NC na, I'm happy with the current power the car makes In other news: MX5 Mania do a drive in drive out turbo kit, the only minor additional part recommended for boosting my car, as it sits now, is a oil cooler, and that bonnet vents are definitely required for track use Aftermarket version look a bit to "racecar" spec I wonder how Focus RS bonnet vents would look?????
    • Paint is only structural when applied to the outside of Chinese and Indian cars. Otherwise it should never be present between mechanical joints that were intended to be metal to metal. Pain slips, slides, cracks, compresses, and add thickness that wasn't intended to be there. It comes firmly under the category of "just no".
    • appreciated it thanks   There are threads on the adaptor. I rear re anodising but didn’t know it will reduce strength   re mating services needing to be flat/ not painted, why would that be? I am devastated as car been off for a year, fixed power steering then installed bm57 master cylinder and just before driving it this came up. So annoyed   worried and afraid to drive it, no fun caliper coming off
