There is one for sale in the latest edition of unique cars - page 143. its in Adelaide, has compliance, states 34,000km's asking $37,500.

I believe most of the rs4's are auto which would prob suit your towing needs but I think you were really after hands on experience - sorry haven't seen or driven one - pretty thin on the ground at this stage. The 260RS must be a temptation!

Edit - Sorry when i reread the ad its not turbo.

  • 2 weeks later...

I think they are essentially built on a Skyline floorpan so don't know if they would be strong enough to tow a Skyline for any length of time. I'm getting one to replace myold Rangie.....but I won't be towing more than about 1000Kg

RS500,

Must be more expensive over east because that one isn't any better than the one's I've looked at (same features and all immaculate) and they are all under $30k for turbo's and the ever present slushbox , yuk!

The one I'm looking at is slushbox equiped unfortunately. anyone care to punt on the cost to convert to manual? :(

sydneykid,

A friend of mine is on the RAW's thing for stagea's and his yard has 3 more comming in mid march. There are a few low $20's most are mid $20k asking price. All the stagea RS-four V's I've seen have ABS, strut tower braces, LSD & twin sunroofs (not rare?). The luxury version (120kg heavier yuk!) has the electric leather seats etc.

The manual versions for the most part have had accidents on top of being much harder to find.

Hi Rev, for towing I want an auto. Weight doesn't worry me, I already have a bucket load of hot up bits for it, hi flow turbo, intercooler & pipework, brake pads, exhaust, wheels, tyres and boost controller. Whether it's 3.4 or 3.5 tonnes all up. it won't make much diference. Gotta be better than the current Foulcan waggon, which does the towing job OK, but is a bit of a waste of oxygen otherwise.

PS; Wanna drop me a PM/email with your mate's contact details.

Anyone on here got a Stagea RS4 Turbo?  I am thinking of one as a tow car for the Skyline, so any reports on towing ability would be good.  But I will take any feedback I can get.

Haven't tried towing yet, but the car is very stable. Its fairly heavy

so towing should be good. Wouldn't want to tow horse floats

or anything like that.

I had a VR4 before this, but that was a pretty quick. The RS-FOUR V (25DET) is absolutely stock so not as fast as my VR4.

Just looking for more HP, exhaust and intake. Really pleased

with the car though, very comfortable, handles well, wife likes

to drive it though :D . The best thing about it is that

the cops have NO IDEA (in Victoria anyway), so hope they

leave me alone (some of the hassles people have with Skylines

leave me cold).

Call Murray Robertson at MJR Motorsport, hes a good guy.

I bought my RS-FOUR from him and got a good deal (12 mth mech warranty, free ship to Melb).

I have been chasing go-fast bits for a while, and would be really interested

in exhaust and intake recommendations.

pm me for more info

Hi Michael, thanks for the tip, I'll give him a call. As for mods, maybe others are interested in what I had in mind, so I'll post it.

We upgraded the R32 GTST circuit race car from its original RB20DET to an RB31DET (RB30 forged bottom end with RB26 top end). So I have a lot of great bits left over from the RB20;

* Almost new ball bearing hi flow RB25DET turbo, that'll fit

* Almost new stainless steel split dump and engine pipe combo, that'll fit

* Good 3" to 3.5" exhaust, might need a few tweaks to the mounts, but it should fit.

* FMIC and set of alloy pipes, silicone hoses and stainless clamps, they'll fit with a few small mods

* Autospeed design boost controller twin Norgren valves set up, goes well with the turbo

* HKS pod filter and cold air shield, they'll fit

* Z32 fuel pump, should fit in the Stagea tank OK

That set up on the RB20 made 220 rwkw at 1.3 bar, but it has a Power FC to tune it. No Power FC 's for auto's so I might just grab an SAFC, but still should get close to 200 rwkw on an RB25.

A 200 rwkw Stagea should get some action from the dinosaurs as we wave them goodbye.

Whadyareckon?

Good stuff Sydneykid, I was after a very similar level of output, think I'll prolly stick with the standard turbo and just not boost it too far....yet.

Is it fair to say that the R34 GTT PowerFCs would work OK on a manual model? I don't see any reason why not.

Hi Duncan, all the RB25DET Stageas I have seen have been non Neo ie, R33 rather than R34. So I'd try an R33 GTST Power FC first.

PS; in case the Autec Stagea owner is reading this, I understand they are also R33 GTR based.
