I disagree, i had 1000's maxed at 403rwkw so i dont think 800's will cut it

Mind you thats 400cc bigger engine

Try it and see

Are you sure it wasn't your fuel pumped that maxed out?

I've got SARD 1000cc injectors, 2x Bosch 044 Surge Tank setup and 1xBosch 044 for pick up.

Car made 425awkw at 25psi and injectors were running around 75-80% on E-85. Car was running 30psi but dropped down to 25psi and from what i was told, it wasn't my injectors that were limiting the car but because there was a drop in boost due to an exhaust restriction.

Going back this weekend to run 30psi to try and make upwards of 450+awkw and i'll come back to see how much power i can make before my injectors max out!

Fuel pumps were fine, with only an injector change it made more

I am just finding it odd that your 1000cc injectors maxed out at 405rwkw and mine is still around 70-80 @ 425awkw.

As i said i'll give you a final figure after Saturday as to how much power i can actually make on 1000cc with E-85 @ 30psi

To answer the question with the 800cc injectors i think it is good for around 400kw on E-85

Not sure if you will need a fuel pump though, maybe its best to speak to your tuner who is tuning it for you.

http://www.powertune.com.au/dynodiaries.html

Dyno sheet is there with the 424.5 awkw

"This R34 GT-R came in for a fuel system overhaul and a dual map tune to get the most out of its twin HKS GT-RS’s, not surprisingly though, the owner hasn’t been back for the 98 tune, neither do most power addicts once they have experienced E85. We decked it out with a custom surge tank that sits above the rear diffuser with 2 x Bosch 044’s and a set of 1000cc injectors.

There was a restriction at an exhaust flange which prevented it from holding boost, yet, it still made a very impressive 424kW at all four wheels (see graph), a figure which initially didn’t impress the owner. After the test drive there was a change in attitude, his words were “Gee, it revs out quick” and it wasn’t because we changed the ratios on him. In a nutshell this car would run a flat 11 to high 10 second quarter mile time in full street trim, and that’s before sorting the exhaust restriction"

I was told i could still make about a 40awkw gain from 25psi -> 30psi but we'll see how much it makes when i head back. Exhaust has now been decatted and running a 94mm straight through exhaust.

Interesting to see how it goes..

Hang on a sec... 425 @ wheels/25psi/GT-RS? :P

-5s will do that on E85 on the same boost (given they do 380 on PULP) - something is amiss here.

Be interesting to see what 30psi does, hoping to see more than 40kw :P

Have a look at the dyno sheet! Something is a miss for sure!

The reason for the power is due to the exhaust restriction as after the front pipe i had a 3" flange going on to the metalcat catalylic converter so like a bottle neck it seemed that was probably the issue and my blitz icolor is set to 2bar of boost too :P

So i have installed my 94mm decat pipe that came with the exhaust so we'll see what difference it will make catless? :P

Although i feel the car can probably make close to 500awkw, i've got a feeling my injectors will starting maxing out around 460-480awkw and i am not willing to buy another set of injectors to prove i can make more lol.

However, it is just an end figure, as long as the power delivery continues to be as smooth and responsive all the way to 9000rpm i'll be happy!!! Highly recommend Powertune Australia for tuning though! :)

let me guess. trust power evolution II, exhaust? great exhaust and will definitely make the power. of all the 'off the shelf' jap exhausts they are the grand daddy for flow while still giving some semblance of muffling! I have one for my 32 GTR. it currently runs a 90mm titanium trust exhaust but seriously thinking about putting on the power evo even though it's mild steel... they sound great too.

love the under car surge and pump set-up. very neat. nice work. :P

The graph looks quite nice too. stil a bit laggy. but once it picks up it's fantastic. certainly much better than most 2.6 GTRS set-ups. interesting to compare to the 2L GTI-R just above yours. even with 600cc less engine it makes about the same power up to about 135km/h. in fact at some points low down it's ahead slightly I think! not much of a contest for outright power though... :P

Hi Baron, welcome to the conversation. You're correct indeed as i am running the TRUST TR Power Evolution II 94mm drag exhaust with v-band flanges. It is the big daddy of exhausts isnt it? :)

Thanks, the surge tank actually looks a lot better all covered up! What actually happened after that picture was i got them to cover up the pumps so you're not able to see them at all with a gap on the front side so they still have air for cooling.

It is a bit laggy i admit but i feel it isnt that much laggier than when i had the 2530s. Though if you're just driving from 1st gear up to 9000rpm and then 2nd gear it doesnt feel that laggy and streetable. Definitely with the built motor, boost and e-85 its definitely awesome and from what people have explained with the HKS GT-RS and 2.6L, i feel after driving my car i think i could change anyones mind about using the GT-RS's on 2.6L though only on a rebuilt motor motor with headwork and again i recommend Powertune's tune to any GT-R as you'll be impressed!!

That Pulsar with a GTI-R motor? Haha its no match muahahaha big daddy is here! ;)

as far as 2.6 GTRS set-ups go, yours with E85 looks very good. and yes it doesn't look much laggier than an average 2530 set-up either. the simple fact is with a 2.6L engine you are never going to have 600hp + and get standard engine response. it's impossible and even standard GTRs are fairly gutless under 4,500rpm. your power may be a bit lower than average GTRS @ 25psi but that could be due to the 3inch flanged cat. you may find it makes more power even at 25psi without that restriction but even if not 425awkw is not to be sneezed at. it's a buttload of power in any car. and at those power levels even a small 10% variance in dyno numbers is nearly 50kw differece so on another dyno you could easily 'get' 460kw which is about right. also your's is AWKW not RWKW which is often quoted.

all round it looks like a very nice set-up and a pretty good shape to the power graph too.

haha thanks Baron! Apart from looking good it also feels very good. lol compared to when i had the 2530s with 260/260 Tomei poncams i feel these are just that little bit laggier but the power that unleashes after it hits full boost my oh my i shall not comment any further... however with the 2530s you feel up to around 6000-8000rpm it dies out but maybe i am just a power junkie lol but the gt-rs's keep revving and all the way to 9000rpm and i still feel it wants more revs!!

Well i'll give an update as soon as i run 30psi on their dyno on Saturday and we'll see how it goes catless. Yes Powertune's dyno is a 4wd dyno! But i am waiting to test the car on another awd dyno to see what difference it makes as he does tell me that his dyno has lower readings but as i said, its only a figure and it doesnt mean that much when it comes to street drivability.

Remember mines a 3L though

Made another 50kw odd with no fuel pump change. I have twin 044's with an 044 lift

I was a bit concerned about fuel pressure on the day but it was fine, for the next tune I'm not so sure

lol after i responded i remembered you had a 30/26, fair enough :)

You going to add another fuel pump and 2000cc injectors? :(

Whats the tuneup like on the 2000's with 98 octane or do you run 100% E85 now?

tried a microtech with the 2000cc's and it had a heart attack :P plugged in a pfc to another car with 2000cc and it idle like stock :P....... the microtech did not seem to have enough injector trim, but we will see down the track.

It's got 2000's now already

Hopefully a 3rd supply pump isn't needed. If it is, I probably won't do it and just stick with whatever 2 can do

What is the price for 2000's these days. I have 1000's already and 2x 044 feeding the rail. Wouldnt mind doing the upgrade before my engine comes back.

    • Hi soviet_merlin, We appreciate your concern regarding this possibly being some sort of PR/Political hype, I assure you that is not the case, I wish we could claim something like that, but in this case, we merely reached out for comment on the basis of the outrage we too felt, as those heavily in the automotive industry. Ps. the original source in the social media post is CarExpert not CarExplore.    Best, CE.
    • Made a bit of a discovery, but while I was cruising, I randomly decided to test to see if it worked and it showed up on my IC7. The entire time I tested it before, I never thought to turn the ignition on. I only tested it with head lights turned on but with the ignition off. Huge oversight on my end. I’m a dummy. I know.
    • G'day all, I have drilled and tapped the hole for the relocation of the timing belt tensioner. That was straight forward. I'm unsure if I need to also put another hole for the smaller stud that the spring behind the tensioner catches on (this is how it seems to work in its original spot). Or do you not use the spring behind it and just torque it down? Thanks in advance, I did a search but couldn't find anything related and it doesn't mention it in the rb30det sau guide.
    • Hi All,  just thought I would provide an update as I know smooth (Matt) was on this forum from 2003.    my brother Matthew passed away end of may 2024 at the age of 41 from liver failure. I am not sure how many of his original team krazy friends are still on here or active but thought it reasonable to let the forum know.    if you have any photos or pictures it would be great if you could share them.    it took me a while to work out he was active on here.    thanks so much
