Hey ppl i'm planning to install pioneer 6x9 into rear of my r32? I just wanna know if it's easy? Will I need spacers? As I have searched and find anything on this.

Cheers

Yep pretty easy install & yes you will need spacers!

rebuild teh rear shelf and knock up a set if 25mm rings then re-carpet the lot in the factory colour. I'll see if Ican dig up a shot of one I did a few years back.

start here

that is the car I did a couple of years ago. shelf is 9mm mdf with 16mm rings. if you position it right then you will not need to cut anything.

I left a lot of shots out as well. nothing special on the amp- 4 screws in the corners. bear in mind I do this for a living as well.

the shelf is a direct copy of the original and the only thing I left out were the rear vents. if youare going to do this : copy the shelf first, mark all the holes in it and put a centre mark in the speaker holes. make a jig out of the 6x9 cutout that came with the speakers and use the centre mark that you made earlier to line the 6x9 up.

from there copy the 6x9 gril/templatel onto a bit of 16mm MDF. glue/screw/carpet and fit it all into place.

ditto on what Chris said. nice job too in those pics.

i did same/similar on my old r31. except bit more space to work with in r31 4dr. not sure if rear window angle same.

i used 18mm mdf for solid mounting. measured eveything up allowed 2mm extra 4 h/duty carpet i used, drew lines where

window taper, belt holes were then went to play with my jigsaw :).

went the 18mm so no thought of spacers/rings, but kenwood 7*10's had them anyway. very very snug fit, but take time and a few test fitments all good. and omg, all the rubber seals on that car were like new (20yr old car), 7*10 were perfect for that boot volume/capacity.

got asked sooo many times how big my sub was :) LOL! Big time when i showed them had none!

with the 4ch amp, i cut piece of mdf same size, made some slots/grooves then mounted it under ther parcel shelf in boot.

this allowed me to still use split rear seat, clear the boot springs under the shelf and load the boot up full to the brim without touching the amp or wiring. would r32/r33 have same bit of space to work with?
