Noticed this in the turbo upgrade thread... Unfortunately it doesn't seem to help in any way in telling what the turbo is like because the curve is a dog of a thing (I'm guessing boost control is all over the shop), no boost level was noted and also inlet temps would allow for a fair bit of correction power wise!

Did any one see this result from GTX3071 in .82 rear housing? It appears to be pretty laggy thou. even compare to a normal 3076

Agreed, it shouldn't be dropping up high either with the .82 rear. Perhaps the 1.06 was a good idea after all. :whistling: I wonder what boost?

I should have mine in soon, just completed the fuel system.

Did you use proper fuel rated power supply cable to the fuel pumps?

I'd take that one with a grain of salt, something in that setup is potentially a bit dicky I suspect. Looks too laggy, even though GTX turbos seem to be laggier than the GT counterparts. Hope the owner joins the convo and gives more info.

The question is: how much better can the GTX be? Its a new compressor wheel stuck onto the same old exhaust wheel.

I am least surprised with the results, factors I believe contribute to their lack of excellence must be related to the step away from high and low blades along with larger trim sizes in general. I note that the EFR still use the high and low blades.

I think it would be a nighmare to develope such a product in a lab, you have to have the backing of a real world performance application to be successful with this sort of product. If successful surely Garrett would have plastered it all over the web to show everyone their marvel, however there was no such talk. I suspect these were purely lab bred items with limited environment testing.

Scotty, not to discredit your setup, I hope it works out really well and I also have faith in the bigger housing. Your workmanship thus far is also VERY impressive, GL.

Perhaps, but the exducer tips are on a nice 40 degree angle which I haven't seen before, and the front housing has huge flow. I was very interested to see the potential of the compressor and running the tial 1.06 rear shouldn't choke it at all. Im not sure I can reach the the full output potential with my gearbox anyway but im guessing an easy 350 on e85, perhaps close to 400 at stupid boost.

Didnt forget it at all, I basically said something was clearly up and figured that people reading the post would know exactly what I was referring to by looking at the plot. Don't know if its a dodgy tune, or something is up with the motor or what - there are various possibilities... hence not being specific :)

I am sure it could do better than that, though I had hoped the GTX3071R was going to be the most likely unit to prove its worth from the get go however remain unsold on the GTX turbos.

biggest problem with that is the .82 IW housing will become a big restriction before the compressor reaches it limits. apart from that though it should be a good comparison, especially for spool

The 1.06 will be a waste of time though imho, if you are going that big you may as well go up to a GT35 based howside with a smaller a/r turbine housing... they seem to drive nicer imho.

So you have you driven a car with a GTX3071 and Tial 1.06? :)

I didn't have a choice as Tial are out of stock of the .82 and .63 worldwide and the other flange types just wont fit where I have mounted it. Like I have said, this housing will be perfect for the 3.5L I am building. I am hoping it frees up the top end and gives me a more gradual boost curve, I didn't like the way my highflow snapped on at 3k anyway.

GT35's aren't my favourite turbo, I have heard of too many failing, even at low (less than 20psi) boost, perhaps because they are so common?
