I've recently bought a GTX3076 .82/AR twin scroll twin wastegate setup, for a built SR20 though. Will be keen to see the results.

I want to do a comparison with the GT3076 that another one of our customers has, as well in the same setup and compare response and hp.

I cannot say I have heard a lot of good reviews, but I believe in giving things a go!

if the panel shop painting my car would hurry the "f" up i might get some sort of results in this life time. 5months still waiting.

thoughts on a GTX3071 with .63 external 44m gate on e85 strapped to RB25 with all supporting mods and poncams? much of a muchness between the gtx and normal 3071?currently running a 52t, 3076 .82 IW and not happy with the 'punch' out of corners. its always that 500 or so rpm behind the 8 ball

I think you would net better results if you just delete the GTX3071 part... Stick with your current CHRA an use the money on a 6boost then the manifold and gate.

You should get what you want but then you will probably want more thereafter.

Thats quite interesting, do you have dyno plots or more specific information on its behaviour on track? I had a .82a/r internally gated 56t GT3076R and that was brilliant on the track, any time you did have lag it was typically a low enough speed corner that you wouldn't want any more power anyway as you'd potentially be doing skids or understeering... makes me wonder if there is a problem somewhere with your "combination". Given that mine was no laggier than a stock turbo STI/EVO, which are basically factory made to be great for track - something that should be more responsive should be a dream!

Before doing something rash (unless you've already been convincingly down this path) I'd look into making sure you've got your current setup humming as well as you could, I'm not at all convinced you should be able to get a lot more response without going to something close to stock.

Maybe a small increase in power from the gt to the gtx but you are still limited by the turbine/housing combo as you are with 2871's.

i do, there in the rb25 thread. and recently fitted poncams and the big can actuator.

dont get me wrong the car is fun, full boost a bit before 4k and pulls hard all the way. whats making me want to make some changes is a friend who had the exact same bolt ons + cams as myself car is completely different to mine.The only difference is he went the 56t .63 external and 44mm tial. while they make the same power on the same boost, and on a dyno his response is probably 300ish rpm better (could just be the housing), their 2 very different cars in the way the power is delivered. driving behind him coming out of corners or even straight line stuff he'll always pull that couple of car lengths, and if you know Mallala well the track is very start/stop. Weve swapped cars several times and the rear housing and gate option is the only relevant difference.

my first issue to rectify is to go back to the MTQ 1 bar actuator, which seemed to drive nicer than the big can. the other option is to just change rear housings to the .63 and go external gate.

I wouldnt change the turbo but.

Wanted to get some feedback.. R33 GTR motor, freshly built, stock compression, tomei cams, sprockets, coilpacks, + all standard bolt on performance goodies, will run a GTX3582R with .63 housing.. any power ideas on power I can expect to see?

I also have an .82 housing i will turn the car on as well so i can switch to it if I like it better.. however the idea is less boost lag.. keep in mind this motor is in an s13 chassis which weights some 2800lbs.

.63 is going to be very tight on a GTX35, to run that turbo you will want a .82

The other issue is your turbo is far exceeding your stock bottom ends capability, that setup should be good for over 400rwkw but the stock internals will generally start to let go at that mark (400rwkw about 530whp).

If y ou dont own that turbo yet you may want to consider another option unless you want to built the entire motor. I will make point that you have used the words 'less lag' and you have picked a fairly laggy turbo (running a tight housing is a bandaid fix and will just cost you power). You will be better off with a smaller turbo if you want more response (and not need to build a motor).

AFAIK also the regular GT3582R is looking more favourable than a GTX3582 or GTX3076, something you may want to review before you buy (GT series wont need as much boost to shine).

I beleive the article disco posted the other day explained it very well..

The GTX turbos are aimed at newer engines that are running 16psi from factory and so require higher boost levels to push more power...16psi was alot for a skyline in the day to make decnt power..

i suppose for newer engines being more efficient with better flow characteristics, losing the bit of response in a turbo isnt a big deal as the newer engnes can compensate for this.. But having the ability to flow well at 30 psi is more important....

So yeah maybe your skyline is better off with the old tech turbos that were designed for the engines of its time :unsure:

The article was just Garrett PR trying to create a market for them which doesnt truly exist. the GTX turbos haven't set the world on fire, and I believe Garrett have spent <5 mins developing these Billet wheels simply because they are the current Fad in turbo tech.

If they truly wanted a new super high performance turbo they would have been done from scratch, ala BW EFR

while i agree about the PR campaign and that the new garrets are nothing revolutionary, just a case of malibu stacey with a new hat...Im not convinced there is no market for them

I beleive some new cars, (in particular the new mazda range comes to mind) are loving them..However I will try back this up with facts before I make a stand ;)

Oh people are buying them, But I'll stick to the old GT stuff if I go garrett, I'm just not convinced they are worth the extra coin (especially when I can get a FP modded one cheaper). But time till tell 12-18 months from now with more results that paint a clearer picture on how much extra they make etc
