I'd wager the OP could in fact be a Nissan insider posting for anonymous feedback from external markets. Wondering about impressions in Australia directly to his question. Is it perceived better than R34. There are a lot of half educated people off this forum who think so.

getting back on topic, the op is right in that aftermarket parts are unnecessarily expensive for the R35 - 1K for JDM sways? I paid half that for the same brand on my 350 years ago. And i dont buy into that, just because its a more expensive car to buy initially, the parts must therefore be more expensive. Thats dealer bs, like porsche/bmw charging me 1k for an oil change, when as far as i can tell, all oil drain plugs unscrew the same

Now we are on a tangent.

I agree, but supply and demand vs percieved value of the product.... if you can charge extra, then why wouldn't you?

I'm not saying it is right, but if the customer is prepared to pay that price then why not?

Having said that if you knew the cost of production for everyday products, you wouldn't feel good buying anything in Australia, you would always feel like you are being ripped off.

Go to Bunnings and you see a kitchen tap for $300, how much is it to buy from the manufacturer in China? Under $20 and the manufacturer puts a 1000% mark up on it already.

Capitalists world we live in, no such thing as a bargain.

You are probably right, how many "BNR34 V spec ii nur" are running around? I did a google search and came up with 750 were made minus the smashed ones (plenty of smashed ones).
