BAGS NOT IT.

:P

okay okay edit i'll give you a clue - you can only import it depending on how long you've owned the car for.

as chris said.. but that's not what i'm here to tell you!

waht i AM going to tell you is that if you plan to "take it over the pits in kalgoorlie" you need a legit reason to be out that far away..

ie: you have to LIVE in kalgoorlie. or be working + Garaging the car there.

Edited by Mr Eps

what do you mean bags not it thats my baby haha,

ive owned the car for the past 5years and yes i live in kalgoorlie and work there aswell so the car will be garaged here aswell.

any ideas costs ???

if you're moving to oz in the near future and want to bring it over, then it'll come in as a "Personal Import". Which is basically any car with any mods that you've owned for the 12 months prior to you moving to oz.

if you've already moved to oz, then you can't import it unless it's taken back to standard manufacturer spec. it has to come in under the RAWS scheme, which unfortunately an RB30DET converted skyline isn't gonna be eligible under.

sorry, bro...

if you're "coming" to australia... then you can bring the car with you.. this is called the personal imports scheme.. because it's YOUR personal car..

being that you are already living here, it must be brought in under SEVS.. which means your RB30 conversion and bucket seats would need to be reverted back to stock..

the reason i said "bags not it" is - well.. i dunno about what things are like in NZ but in aust when you say "BAGS NOT IT!" it means "i call shotgun on NOT doing this"

ie:

you're sitting on the couch watching TV and your GF is in the kitchen cooking food - the phone rings.. you call out "BAGS NOT!!!"

and by federal law she must answer the phone...

hence why when you posted this - i called bags not it..

*sigh*

so let me get this straight.. you're ALREADY here in WA.. your car is in NZ?? correct?

You can bring it in under the SEVS scheme, but it will need to be standardish.

You will have to ge it complied $1800ish

Shipped over $1000ish?

Customs cleared, import duty and GST $1500ish

These are just quick off the top of my head esimates.

yea i was thinking that or importing it as a rally/drift car and doing a motor swap i dunno really what to do now !!! how expensive are decent bodied skidders over WA here ??

the flaw in your plan of having your GF re-move over to aust would be that she doesnt own the car. you do so you would have to be the person moving. then again maybe just asking for consideration seeing you did move over here and just didnt import it as a personal import when you first moved. does anybody know if there is a limit you can be in aust for before you can no longer do it as a Personal Import?

Given its been 1 year already it probs wont work but you never know. give customs a call.

Your best bet woud be to take out all the parts you want in your car and have them crated over to australia and have them put in an r32/33 shell. Then either return your car in New Zealand to stock and sell it or just part it.

It's not a finanicially viable sitution. By the time you put a stock motor, seats, wheels, exhaust and then pay the related import costs, you'll have probably gone over the car's value. Also that would be a lot of dicking around to have all that done from another country. Seems a bit much to put a new motor in just for a boat right.

As much as this is gonna hurt to do, chop the car into two, piss the rear half off (after you pull out the LSD I guess), ship the front half to oz. In WA, find a car that's got an almost dead engine or soemthing, get the rego on it (mail it in), then swap the engine and all the parts over from the half cut.

Probably the easiest way to get most of your old car on the road in oz. You'll make some cash back on the panels from the old car in NZ, and maybe some cash from the parts you pull out of the car in WA. Probably not much tho.

Have spoken with the misses and she has informed me that MY skyline is in her name anyway ;) so im still hope that plan will work as i have just spend 6000 on body work on it gutted

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
    • Yes I as well would like to find out where I could get some of the seat material with the red or blue small squares in it
