Here is the latest news from crash.net re: Yellow Flag Infrigements

Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Mark Wevbber and Jaime Alguersuari have all been reprimanded after failing to slow for the yellow flags in the latter stages of today's F1 2011 Spanish Grand Prix.

The indiscretions occurred near the end of the 66-lap race, when Team Lotus man Heikki Kovalainen crashed out on lap 51 at turn 4.

Despite the reprimands though, no time penalties were applied and thus the result remains unchanged.

The full statement from the FIA's stewards of the meeting – namely Paul Gutjahr, Radovan Novak, Mark Blundell and Silvia Bellot - read:

The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, have considered the following matter, determine a breach of the regulations has been committed... and impose the penalty referred to.

Driver / No: Mark Wevbber #2

Driver / No: Lewis Hamilton #3

Driver / No: Jenson Button #4

Driver / No: Jaime Alguersuari #19

Session: Race

Fact: The driver set his personal best sector time in Sector 2 while yellow flags were displayed at turn 4

Offence: Breach of Appendix H, Article 2.4.5.1 (b) of the 2011 FIA International Sporting Code.

Penalty: Having heard both the driver and team representative and viewed video evidence, the Stewards decide to reprimand the driver.

They got the drs wrong SO it was a great race, the battle between hamilton and vettel in the closing laps had me at the edge of my seat!

fixed

if DRS had "worked" there would have been no battle. Just an easy pass.

I've already heard people today doing the "Mark Webber is a choker" comments. I guess he is the only one to blame. Kudos to Button for running a smart race - only 3 stops and leapfrogged both Nando and Webber and steal a 3rd place finish.

It seemed that Webber didn't get off the line very well (as usual) and had to defend Vettel and then Nando came from out of nowhere and took the lead in turn 1.

Webber was locked in a dog fight with Nando most of the way which played into Button hands with him 3 stopping while the others were 4 stopping but Vettel and Hamilton were long gone.

The DRS zone for this race was in a crap position...didn't give drivers enough time to pass...it should have been at the start of the main straight to give drivers a better run...

Monaco is going to be interesting in where they are going to put the DRS zone with such a short straight (imagine if they allow DRS everywhere)...and then Canada gets double DRS zones.

Loved watching that wiiiiide Merc of Schumacher's frustrate the faster Rosberg

Very disappointed in Webber's race. Half arsed challenges and one of the poorest "clean" starts I have seen in a long time.

Also, how could he not pass more people on the straight? He has the same car that Vettel had which means that he had a massive advantage on the exit of the last turn (going by Vettel's exiting onto the straight with Hamilton chasing him)

Great drive by Heidfeld. 24th to 8th.

Has anyone else noticed that RBR don't gear their cars to take advantage of DRS?

Couldn't impact the rest of the lap if 7th gear was a fraction taller, surely

straight line speed/top speed is not their strongest suit. If they gear 7th up too much they'll suffer even more when not able to use DRS, and being the fastest cars on the grid they probably expect to be out in front of the race...

Expect red bull 1 and 2 for Monaco with probably Ferrari in the mix.

Downforce advantage of Le bulls makes a big difference when you have the wings turned to "MAX" lol.

the Ferrari's look to go alot better on the soft tyres, its a by product of their design philosophy I think, Always been faster on the softer tyres and maybe not hard enough on the hards, explains why they were quick in the final sector.

The Fezza looks to have not bad Aero but they need to get everything working at once.

Have you got to Hockenheim yet? back before tilk gayed it up

yep, just did hockenheim. yeah it was a kick arse track before tilke put his stamp on it. why on earth they keep hiring the bloke is beyond me. I mean all his bloody new tracks are the same. if they want the same why not just have 20 races at bloody shanghai or sepang? save money that way.

a lot of peeps on here don't seem to understand the idea behind KERS- it's not for 'push to pass' on the straight, it's supposed to allow the chasing car to arrive neck-and-neck with the car in front into a big braking zone, then it's a test of nerve on the brake pedal.

straight line speed/top speed is not their strongest suit. If they gear 7th up too much they'll suffer even more when not able to use DRS, and being the fastest cars on the grid they probably expect to be out in front of the race...

agreed but it hurts them badly when they are not in front. all well and good to use your overall lap speed to your advantage when you're in front but when you're behind you need that top speed to make some moves.

fark, carnt, sh1t, a55hole, slartcake.....

yeah I said something similar about that time and then actually switched the race off.

Even worse Roy is that f**king appalling Teac ad with Winterbum speaking like he's f**king touched in the head.

ok, I lol'd. yeah they are just wrong.

Well, I was going to go to the German and Hungarian F1 GPs this year...right about now I think I may as well save the coin and head to the Polish strip joints

I hear that mate. All I wanted was to see webber win a race in person. doesn't look like I'll get that chance now. :(

I say save the F1 cash and instead go do a track day at spa again, or zandvoort or even burger-ring (maybe do the GP track?). Or just lounge in the Spa casino drinking your buck fifty beers and then head over to poland to find my long lost sister at the strip club. tell her I said "hi".

was webbers kers working in the race? every time they had the onboard graphics up alonso (or whoever was with webs) was using it but webber wasn't? and his start??? wtf?? he got off the line very nicely, was miles ahead of gonzo and vettel but just got mowed down in the '2nd phase' of the start? I mean surely it's just pedal to floor, bang through gears as requierd? no one can mess that up surely? maybe his car really is knobbled somehow or is it just his weight penalty compared to the lighter drivers?

oh, and nee-san. you are a deadset prick. have ruined 98/99 f1 for me. you are lucky I don't ban you for life! seriously dude.... what was the point of that? surely anyone who was curious could have just googled it...

That would have been Wheels magazine. If you are really keen I can dig it out as I have them all stuffed in a cupboard at home.

The Mp4/4 was probably one of the greatest/most dominant cars of all time. Just a shame the Brabham BMW it owed so much to was a total dog.

I went looking for my copy over the weekend completely without success :(

I've lent so many of my cherished magazines over the years to mates but seldom have them returned. :(

I'd love to see it if you happen to stumble upon it, I'm sure some f the young pups here would like a read too. (edit; please tell me my figures were correct before publishing!? haha)

Except Nee-san, he needs a holiday. What a KENT act! (just realised myself! lol :P)

SV couldn't get past Gonzo on the racetrack either...

I call shenanigans, RBR have connected one of these to his KERS button.

Soundracer

No wonder he hasn't noticed, they are so realistic.

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
