I went & looked it up. Sort of

The answer is supposedly two.

Two are Monza in 2005.

The Dutch GP in 1961.

The big news is:

Narain Karthikeyan is the first driver in F1 history to finish 24th.

Well he is the "Fastest Indian on Earth" :P

Sooo, 26 years later, we're going back to 100ml larger V6's, with a reduced rev limit and better materials, what a technological break-through this will be ...

Just incase you've missed it, we don't have half the field retiring from mechanical faults anymore.

It was better when teams could engineer solutions that were pretty marginal and on the edge, having reliability actually meant something then.

I wonder when the FIA will bring out that it will be a control turbocharger limited to 1 bar.....

Indeed, we have them all driving around playing follow a German (we've been here before if memory serves me correct). And wasn't it so good watching all the cars racing last weekend, ohh sooooo exciting watching 24 cars go round and round and round ...

Wasn't the Track Owners Group having a Whinge about the whole V6 thing, meh, they all bend over for Bernie so who can really take then seriously ;)

AUSTRALIA will have a new Formula One driver in 10 days time, with Perth product Daniel Ricciardo given his chance by the little known Hispania team.

Daniel Ricciardo is on the brink of becoming Australia's next Formula One star.

Having impressed in the Red Bull outfit as a Test driver this year, Ricciardo has been handed a perfect opportunity to parade his wares at Silverstone and beyond..

Ricciardo is replacing Indian driver Narain Karthikeyan, who has struggled throughout the season.

1 bar? :sick: Pretty poor when road cars can safely run higher boost :rant:. Not that we'll ever see 5-bar 1300 bhp engines again, more's the pity

I reckon I'd rather 2 rounds in the TR than half a dozen or so in the HRT but still. it's a big break. 2 years in minardi didn't do webber any harm. and hey, it's easier to drive a slow car to it's potential than a fast one. that's for sure.

shouldn't be hard for him to outshine karthekein.

I reckon that while it is easy to drive a slow car slowly (based on my years of experience of doing just that) it is actually much harder to drive a slow (ie bad) car to its limit which tends to be all over the place.

You see it time & again. Someone who has been struggling in an average car finally gets something half decent and they are touted as the next superstart when they do well in it.

I guess as long as it helps him progress to the point of replacing Vettel it is all good. It is all good having a West Orstraylean in F1 anyway. :thumbsup:

Ricciardo will be competing against one driver and one driver only, that being Liuzzi. If he beats him, he's "won". Aside from that his job will be to prove that he can drive at race pace without hitting something or getting in the way. It worked for Webber, and HRT is effectively the Minardi of 2011

dunno. if you mean slow and CRAP car then yes. but just slow I don't agree. for example. I can take a civic. just your basic run of the mill mummy version with a 5spd and drive it about 90% of it's potential. say mark skaife can do 1:12s at wakefield in it, I could probably go out and do 1:13s. now put us both in a V8 super car. Mark is now doing 58s and I'm doing probably 1:05s. big gap. I always maintain it's easier to drive a slow car fast than a fast car fast. you see people driving some weird car at a trackday doing a time that seems respectible for that car and people go WOW! what a great driver to get a 2min flat at EC in a R31. and the poor bloke in his 911 turbo who's doing a 1:40 is getting no love cause it's all in the car supposedly. put the R31 driving hero in the 911 and he's probably slower. just looks good driving a shit car to it's limit which is lower and much easier for mortal man to find and then drive within.

well if he can do it soon enough then we'd have 2 aussies at RBR. that would be nice. not sure I see it happening though. anyway, looking at webbers stats these days he's actually having a pretty respectable career. hey he now has stats nearly as good as rubens despite having only contested half as many races!

But can he beat Luizzi...practice sessions are pretty useless as an indicator but looking at his pace in the TR vs other TR drivers shows him to usually be consistently slower, so a full race might not be flattering at all if he is half a second a lap off Luizzi at the back of the pack.

But if he can make it to the finish it will be on for the next race! He will probably go safe for silverstone.

Ricciardo looks unflattering compared to Liuzzi and Karthekeyan only if you ignore that he is driving on a green track in P1 and is on an unknown program for tyres fuel and aero.......perhaps he is going a little better than it appears.
