Massa's origianl contract extension was because Nicolas Todt is his manager. His father approved the contract, it seems, as a final fcuk you to the team before he left

He was then saved, ironically, by getting hit in the head by Rubens' rear spring back in '09. I think Di Montezemolo realised that his team would not be looked on favorably by the general public if you turfed a guy that almost died for your team

His form this year has been horrendous, and replacing him with a younger, faster more marketable guy can only bring good things for the fuzz

it was just clumsy on Hamilton's part (again!) - yes, at one point he was in almost to the front wheel, but then half backed out and the collision was Hamilton's front wheel on Massa's rear. Its not really an overtaking area - if you're going to do it there you really need to make it a dominant move, clearly in front. He didn't. His move relied on the other driver getting the f*&% out of his way. He had to know Massa was not going to do that!

On the other hand, I feel it was pretty deliberate from Massa - he definitely saw him going up the inside but gave him the big "f*&% you"

You know its a strange call when the pommy BBC commentators are amazed that Hamilton didn't get penalised.

massa should join a closed wheel racing category. then he can shut the door as hard as he likes and not tear wheels off, etc.

and hamo and massa need their own tv show. it would be like a young version of grumpy old men

gee, wonder where you came up with that idea... its not like people have been saying that about Hamilton all season or anything

Pastor will use a ninth engine in Abu Dhabi, due to damage incurred following the gearbox failure in India, he will therefore incur a subsequent 10-place grid penalty. Rubens will use a new eighth engine

can it get much worse for Williams this year?

dc commenting on sob v massa.

"I simply can't understand how Felipe could have been deemed the guilty party. As drivers we are always taught that the car behind is responsible so to my mind the stewards misinterpreted what happened,"

"I don't want to beat up on Lewis. Far from it. "I supported him in similar circumstances after Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi clipped the back of him at Spa. And after everything that has gone on over the past weeks and months he deserves a break. But in this instance I feel he was definitely the guiltier party.

"If Lewis had got that far up alongside Felipe into a tight hairpin, where the braking zone is maybe 100 metres and lasts for a few seconds, then I think Massa would have been right to give way. But heading into a fourth gear left-hander at maybe 150-160km/h? Where the braking zone lasts for one second? I don't think Massa can be held responsible."

"This isn't really about Lewis and Felipe. It could have been any two drivers. What concerns me more is the inconsistency of stewarding decisions," he continued.

"Making these types of calls is one of the real difficulties with a complex sport like Formula One, but it was almost as if they felt that - with Lewis receiving so many decisions against him this year - they were trying to redress the balance. A bit like in football when a referee sends someone off in controversial circumstances and the crowd is on his back, he is more disposed to send a player from the opposition off."

they're currently on course for finishing the season with less than 10 points. even STR have 8 times their current total ffs.

in Latin you'd say they've had an annus horribilis

cool video Hansel

next year when Williams gets rid the cosworth and puts the renault in, it will be much better for them imo.

and when they pry the old Brazillian out and ship the quick Finn in that's bound to help too

true that.

Johnny Herbert ( driver representative on the stewards panel in India) on sob v massa.

"I know Massa was upset by our decision, but I believe we made the right call. After looking at it from different camera angles and studying all the data available to us, it was clear that Massa knew where Hamilton was before he chose to turn across him."There was nothing Hamilton could have done to avoid it. He did try to get out of the move, but it was too late and the contact was made."

Wise words from DC.

Simplistic dribble from Johnny Herbert.

Yep

Sounds like nothing more than the stewards defending their bad call.

What he's basically saying is that any driver coming from behind can drive up the inside, with no chance of making the corner, and the lead car who is on the racing line either has to stop and let him through, or drive right off the track so that he doesn't get t boned.

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.

    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
