get the angles right on camera and you could look as nuts as the boys off jackass...taking a chainsaw to the roof

when you're done hacking it off, whack an awesome cage in it (easy access), and then do a full carbon fibre roof.

job done.

edit - previous owner says it's bent like a banana....dream over.

thats probably the way to go, forget the interior, just build a track day special. I still worry about the structural integrity at the speeds this thing will do. If you were content with eastern creek and wakefield, it probably wouldnt be such an issue though.

Tyres are brand new btw.

09GTR,

part of the reason I was posting parts prices. given the size of the hit all that is really good for is spare parts. still amazes me that they listed it as a repairable writeoff myself . I would call it stat writeoff and strip the thing.

I agree Chris, still likely someone will end up driving it. Whats an engine and tranny worth these days? Thats where my interest lies.

structural integrity for a track car should be no problem - roll cage should offer more than the stock damaged components ever did - but I suppose I am speaking through my arse without having seen the car

mildly damaged JDM for race only - about 40-50k. undamaged JDM car for track only 70k or there abouts

Someone correct me here, but I thought a write off was the situation when the repairs are more expensive than the agreed value of the car?!

I can't see how a new roof and shit, even considering it's a brand new, top of the range car, would cost >140k.

Yeah? No?

Repairable write off is when the cost to repair is greater than the insured (agreed or market) value less the salvage value. Clearly why spend (say) $60K (properly) repairing a $100K car when you can sell the wreck for (say) $50K and pay the owner out the balance of $50K on top of the $50K you got for it to fix him up with a new one...

If you guys estimate it would sell for between $60-$80K then it would have cost the insurer more than $100K to fix it if a new replacement one cost it $180K on road because ultimately the insurer will be out of pocket $100K if it sells the wreck for $80K.

Call it what you will, repairable or stat writeoff. They only called it repairable because it's still structually sound. I don't think you'll see this thing repaired unless it's done by dodgy brothers...or sells for $30K. But it won't because of the spare parts value alone. I agree with Chris. It's getting stripped. Spare trans and motor anyone? :D

There is a reco 5,500mile long motor on ebay US for approx $9-10K to give an idea

i know the story behind it, without disclosing too much.....i've got access to all the info on it.

incident report reads as guy from toll was reversing it off a truck, hit the go pedal instead of the stop pedal and wedged it under a truck trailer

damages in the insurance paper work were est at 27k.

i'll find out what it sold for tomorrow

we know the story behind it too, the owner made a thread about it explaining everything & has even posted several times in this thread...

but by all means keep everyone posted on what it goes for

guys dont forget that before this car was wrecked by Toll it was probably the hardest driven GTR in the country. I spent many hours driving this thing, chasing it in around racetracks and throughout NSW, sitting in the passenger seat and i wouldnt be buying it for parts... Engine has been in and out twice and i wouldnt be surprised if the gearbox has a few problems... It would cost at least 50k to fix this car and make it track worthy with a cage and other mods, plus where are you gonna drive it if its not registered EC & Wakefield, thats gonna be boring after a few months! You would need to trailer it to every track and thats gonna be a massive pain in the ass. This isnt a 1350kg porsche which can be trailered more easily, these things are massive and heavy... good luck to whoever buys it... RIP 09GTR.

I disagree with your assessment White 35. This car has had one lady owner, only driven around town to do the shopping, and the gear box has been well looked after, only ever driven in auto, VDC always on. I did lend you the keys once though.....but I can confirm it was faster than your white wreck.
