Owens
My air flow meters need replacing. I ordered some replacements which arrived this morning. My current AFM's on my R33 GTR have a orange label with the number 22680 05U00 A36-000 J70 The ones I received were stock from a R32 GTR. It has a brown label with the same model number. My current orange labelled AFM's have 5 pin outs, but the brown labelled AFM's only have 4 pin outs. I plugged the brown labelled AFM's in and black smoke started belching out the back when I started her up. So I guess the 5th pinout was important. Is there a way to rewire the connection to the AFM to only use 4 pins or do I really need all 5 pins connected? Any other suggestions? paulr33
it sounds like you have Z32s or nismo's AFMS and you've ordered stockers so it wont work and it would be very angry, please be careful you dont fry your new AFMs post up pics of both please are they both 65mm? Owens
I'll try and get some pictures up soon. It's currently sitting at the mechanic atm. I took the sleeve off the plug, and there isn't a 5th wire, so that little mystery is solved. It just doesn't make sense when both sets are the same model J70. The only difference on the label I noticed was my old ones had JECS in big bold letters, where as the ones I received just say "jecs corporation". Is that how you could tell if they're Z32 or not? paulr33
measure them is the best way but do you have std intake piping and a std ECU or aftermarket intake ducting and standalone / aftermarket ECU? ie if you have aftermarket pod or ducting kit and standalone ECU you might have Z32s which are 80mm if you have std piping and std ECU then you have std GTR afms which are 65mm so physical size and look are ways to work out what ones you have Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/344571-afm-dilemma/#findComment-5553742 Share on other sites
Owens
Ecu is standard, intakes are standard, pods are after market, but had standard airbox on before. I believe both sets of AFM's are 65mm as I had no problem bolting and fitting either of them on. Both AFM's are physically the same size. How do you go about measuring them. I'm good with a multimeter but that's about it. paulr33
nothing to measure really, all AFMs are 5v but they have different resolution, ie different phyiscal flow is different voltage range in the ramp Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/344571-afm-dilemma/#findComment-5553870 Share on other sites
