Hi All,

I plan to service my 2004 350GT this weekend.

It'll be the first time I service this car since the warranty ran out (dealer did it for me while warranty was valid).

Im no mechanic but I know enough to do a basic service. Changing the following items:

Oil

Oil Filter

Fuel Filter

Brake pads for our sweet as stock Brembos.

Spark plugs

Brake Fluids

Radiator Coolant

Can anyone tell me:

- Where you guys\gals get your parts from? Preferably in NSW, Sydney

- What brand you buy & why?

- Part numbers (if you have them)

- How much you paid for it?

Hopefully this topic can help some other people that want to service their own V35's

Im really just interested in the Brake Pads details but thought I might as well explore all the items on my list.

im lazy and i get my mechanic to take care of it but al parts are the same as the 350Z so you can prob go to repco or any car shop and ask for the 350Z parts make sure to specify it is brembo calipers your looking for

i use fully synthetic oil like Caltex Havoline 5w-40 but that does depend on how you drive it and your preference on oil

ps make sure if you dont know what fluids were used before (oil,colant,etc) you flush the old ones before puting in new ones as mixing them may cause problems ie. 2 diferent coling fluids may not react well.

Remember it's not just replacing these parts. You need to check on other things in your car.

Get a log book for the details.

Good one on getting this tread started, Mike. This tread will be very useful later on after more owners share their informations and experiences.

Yeah for sure, Ill be doing all my own servicing. First one due in 2000km. Any info is appreciated..

I hate the thought of an apprentice from auto bahn raping my car..

PS. anyone know the part number for non-brembo..? dont all 350z have brembo? sorry for hijack..

Hi Mike

I don't have a V35, but I do have a M35 with the VQ25DET. I do most of my own servicing on my car a few things you should note.

1) Spark plugs: generally the VQ motors will have the Platinum or Irridium tipped spark plugs and should only requiring changing every 80'000km.

2) Radiator: If you flush the radiator be aware that it is really easy to get an air lock in the VQ block. It will take a while to bleed all the air out.

3) Fuel Filter: I believe the V35 has the same fuel system as the M35 which means your fuel filter is built into the fuel tank and is a little bit of a pain to change. Be sure you want to do this before you take this job on.

I get a lot of my servicing bits from performance Lube. very good prices.

ok they dont all come with brembo, should be easy to find non-brembo pads then..

Sorry havent got back to this post but have had to put a hold on servicing my car... looks like my service money will go to Christmas presents. :-) Hopefully i get the parts I want as my Christmas present. hehe

How many pages is that? I think there are programs that compress the zipped file.

They are PDF files... thats 90MB zipped.

Hi Mike, I too have a VQ25det powered M35, but I have also serviced V35.

Anyway if you haven't already bought all your gear, here are some recommendations

Oil - Gulf Western Souji S6000 $65 (I have found it "better" than Redline - both Grade V oils - and is a fraction of the price)

Oil Filter - Nismo (Veruspeed) - all details/numbers in the link

Fuel Filter - dunno, have not yet done mine

Brake pads for our sweet as stock Brembos. - QFM HPX are ideal for road use and are cheap! Contact GSL RallySport

Spark plugs - Denso Iridium due to their superior spark and long life. You'll need the IKH16 plugs, check eBay Motors (US) for a cheap set

Brake Fluids - Dot 4

Radiator Coolant - I have Holden coolant in mine as my radiator fabricator recommended it, but I hear that the Nissan coolant is pretty good

Yeah, my mate recommended QFM but he uses A1RM.

Man according to the manual I've been reading, I think I might be needing a new set of Brake Rotors too.

Faaar out this "cheaper option" of self service is going to cost me $2k plus. haha

anyone know an equivalent for motul?

A few of the more modded M35's are running Gulf Western Sugi S6000 .

A good price (about $80 for 5 liters) and good performance.

      I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".

      No idea about Neil's steering wheel, but I have the same behaviour in the Stagea. I doubt it has ever been messed with so might be normal. Indicating to turn right at a roundabout and correcting even a little bit to the left to go around will cancel the indicator. Never considered it an issue other than it being a bit odd.

      Does anyone know if this is off centered? Looks like it, when I indicate to go right, but turn my steering wheel slightly left it cancels (was always like that even before I started messing around with it) was wondering if anyone else has the same issue?

      Nothing photo worthy since last update, lots of little plumbing bits for the AAC/Cold start valves, and unfortunately I still need another couple of parts for the brake booster line and the AAC into the plenum. Otherwise it all looks good to start up engine wise, onto checking the electrics/interior
